It would watch, watch you carefully. Nothing could tear the malevolent eyes away from your frame, to say it was highly unnerving was an understatement. It would never try to approach you, it just sat watching and waiting for...something to happen. You had no clue of what it was waiting for, but you hoped it would never pounce.
It had cat like eyes, that glimmered in false kindness. The vivid green turned toxic when you would glance away. It would always smile when you peered at in suspicion, as if to say 'What do you fear me for? I am kind, benevolent, I would never hurt you.' When it did smile though, the teeth were jagged saws on a red landscape.
You would pace in your room as It would peer at you from a distance. You would keep glancing up at it, wondering, hoping, no.
'Stop your pacing young one, why do you look on me like you think I may harm your young innocence?' The creature finally spoke, its voice a soothing melody of illusions and lies, not that you could sense the illusion under all of the honey and sweetness.
It made you start to wonder, 'Why did you ever think this creature would harm you? It speaks so sweetly, it can't possibly be hurtful.' You turned and looked upon its figure, it was now a elegant swan, nothing like you were used to seeing it. You had dreamed up its evil. It was a good creature, sent here to help you.
The swan turned its head toward you, swinging its long elegant neck. It ruffled its feathers, and opened a wing to invite you under the shelter of the comfy home. You slowly start to walk towards it, caught in the web of the spider.
As soon as you were tucked under the wing of the swan, it shifted. Its skin bubbled unnaturally, the swan grinned, its mouth lined with the sharp teeth of your nightmares. You were so careful, now it all has to end. You were caught too deep, too fast, to death.
'You were fun, now I have tired of playing this waiting game. I am in control now.' You remembered its name, Mal. It sunk its claws into, it controlled your life, you weren't allowed to have fun, eat, drink, live. You withered away until it was only Mal left. The last memory you have was crying family and friends as you watched from inside your mind as Mal had taken over your body. You were a withered husk inside your own mind, you could only watch as Mal spoke to your family and friends. It kept them at a distance, not accepting anything from them.
'I want to be free, Mal. Let me go.'
'All in good time young one, I am not done. Soon.'
Mal let you go, but not in the way you wanted. It let go of your body, right as you hit rock bottom. You couldn't believe it at first, but wait... You couldn't breathe, the light, it was fading away. 'Mal... what have you done?' You ask as you heard shrieks of laughter from that monster in your mind. You should have never given in, should have gotten help, too late now. You watch from your casket at your friends and family weep in their sorrow. You should have never given into Mal, should have kept it at a distance.
Never let Mal get the best of you, never give in. It may seem nice, sweet, better. Learn from my mistakes, please, don't let it get to you. Always get help, there are people that care, get help before it catches you in its web.
Never give in or give up.
