"Rose, please put the book down!" Scorpius whined to his best friend. It was Christmas Eve, and the two sixth year Ravenclaws were taking advantage of the silent common room.
"Ok Scorp, better?" Rose shook her head as she put down Hogwarts: a History and picked up a mug of hot chocolate.
"Much. Even though we are in the same house and year, I feel like we barley get to talk now. Especially since Slughorn has been preparing us for a huge exam. Well at least now we have all week." He smiled as they both sat cross-legged in front of the fire.
"I agree, it's been ages since we have been able to do even this much. I miss spending quality time with you. But now it's only you, me, Albus and not even a quarter of the school. We will have tons of fun, especially since its Christmas tomorrow." She smiled.
"Which reminds me, I got you something." Scorpius reached into his bag and pulled out a rectangle box covered in a shiny blue paper, topped with a silver satin bow. "My mum taught me how to wrap the perfect Christmas present. She said it would come in handy later." He shrugged and handed Rose the package. She carefully undid the wrappings, to find a smaller square box. Rose opened the smaller box, to find a tiny silver locket inside. The locket was heart shaped, with a single rose detailed lightly on the front. She opened the locket, to find a picture of her and Scorpius inside. Rose began to tear.
"Oh Scorp, it's beautiful! Thank you!" She threw herself at him, and they were both locked in a friendly embrace. "But I thought we agreed no presents this year. I feel bad I don't have anything for you." She pulled from him and frowned.
"Its ok, but I do have one thing you could give me in return." He prompted and took a deep breath. "I want to ask you out. I planned a whole day for us tomorrow at Hogsmeade. If you don't want to I totally understa" – but Scorpius was interrupted when Rose put her finger to his lips.
"Silly boy, of course I would! Scorpius Malfoy, I love you too. I would love to be your girlfriend. Why wouldn't I say yes?" Rose smiled and shook her head. She then realized that she was still sitting in his lap, and began to kiss him. He immediately kissed back, and smiled. They were both so happy together. Nothing would stand in their way, well maybe their fathers, but they would have to learn to deal. After all, love does come with a price.
