As soon as the music started Mercedes heart leaped, she loved that song. But it also brought back some memories. As Joe started to sing the first lyrics, she couldn't help it when her mind went to Sam and what happened weeks ago. She couldn't even remember why she denied him to get back together. They did kiss a couple of weeks ago, but she still was left in limbo. Nothing was really clear, we're they even back together or was that just a passing moment? She was determined to maintain her attention on the couple in front of her delivering their duet and not let her thoughts drive her insane.
As the lyrics left their mouth, Mercedes was itching to turn and to look at Sam who was sitting at the far end of the row. The side of her face was burning, she was itching to figure out if it was Sam's gaze that was burning a hole on her.
She never thought that out of all people she would be placed in this kind of situation. Kissing an-ex while being with an other guy, she never thought that she would be that kind of person. She enver thought that she would break someone's heart like that. Although she should've seen it coming, if she was honest with herself, she was still very in love with Sam and being with Shane was just a sorry excuse to try and move on from Sam.
Sam who still wanted to fight for her, who still loved her. At that thought she turned her head slightly to find him looking at her, his eyes were telling her that he would not give up no matter how much she tried to push him away, especially after they shared another kiss. Mercedes turned her head back to the couple singing in front of her.

Those lyrics got to her, she did love him more than could ever described but she knew what she had to do. Maybe it was telling her to pull her head out of her ass and let the boy gets his way. She had her time to do her thing and in the end it had ended the same way the big mess started, with a kiss.
She had waiting long enough for someone to love her the way he did. What happened with Shane was just wrong but for how long was she going to punish the both of them. It had happened but was she supposed to just not be happy?
Sam was all she wanted, nobody could take his place, and tonight was finally the night that she would let him know.
