Ben was in the middle of feeding Emma when Riley came in. She didn't bother to knock. She just used her key. Ben wasn't alarmed. Riley would often come in to his apartment. They were friends.
"Oh hey Riley," Ben said.
"Remember the first day we met," Riley asked.
"You know the appropriate response to 'oh hey Riley' would be something like "hi Ben"," Ben teased, "Of course I remember the first day we met."
"You know you were the first person that ever bothered to look at me like I was a person," Riley said, "People were embarrassed of me because I had issues but you... you were different." Riley took Emma.
"The first thing I noticed was that you looked at me like I was a person. You talked to me like I was a person. Then at the party you introduced me as your friend Riley," Riley continued.

Now Ben was confused. Riley was acting pretty weird even for Riley but he knew she would get to her point.

"Well you are a person," Ben said, "and you are
a person and you are my friend."

"Then," Riley said, "There was the time
at the ice cream shop where I had done the graffiti. You actually took the fall
for that and you never made me feel stupid even though what I did was
stupid."

"It was graffiti. It wasn't a horrible
thing."

"Ben my point is that I love you," Riley said, "and I had to tell
you before I lost my nerve."

"I love you too," Ben said.

"No,"Riley said, "I mean I'm in love with you."
