Author Note's
This is my first Vampire Diaries fanfiction. I got this idea while listening "Light Me Up" by The Pretty Reckless; it's exactly like the song the song just inspired it. Set in season 2, after Katherine makes her grand appearance. I don't own The Vampire Diaries or the characters.

Elena sat in her room staring at her reflection. Did she really want to do this? Yes, she has differ herself from Katherine. Elena took a deep breath and read the instruction for the hair bleach. The lady at the hair place said it would be best for her hair since my hair is so dark.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Bonnie said giving her a concerned look.
"Yes Bonnie, you already asked that. Remember, the first six times? Besides, if it sucks we can always dye it back. Now, Elena, sit in the chair and let me work my magic." Caroline smile and I smiled back.
Elena trusted Caroline with her life, but her hair? Elena guess she knows what she's doing, she has the most experience in hair dying. Not that Caroline dyes her hair, but for a period in 8th grade she dyed it red.
After an hour of brutal hair bleaching, Elena was a blonde. The bleach wasn't what was brutal it was Bonnie and Caroline. They kept bickering over the amount of bleach, and how long we should leave it in, and everything else.
"Oh my God! You look SO hot as a blond!" Caroline squealed and gave Elena a hug.
"It looks good." Bonnie smiled, but it didn't reach her eyed.
"Thanks guys, I really appreciate this." Elena smiled at both of them.
"And you know what new hair means," Caroline looked at us as if we knew the answer. "New clothes!" Caroline yelled like it was obvious. Elena chuckled and Bonnie rolled her eyes.
"I can't, my dad wants me home for lunch. See you hugs at school tomorrow." Bonnie said goodbye and left.
"She still doesn't like me." Caroline looked sad and Elena gave her a one-arm hug.
"Yes she does, these things take time. She'll come around." Elena smiled and her.
"Alright, I guess you right. Time to shop!" Caroline exclaimed and we hurried out the door.
After two hours of shopping and one new wardrobe later, we were eating lunch. Elena loved spending time with Caroline; she made her feel like her old self without feeling uncomfortable. They gossiped and talked about boys, and girls they hated. Even though Caroline was a vampire now she still seemed like good old Caroline.
"Salvatore at two o'clock!" Caroline said as we walked out of Victoria's Secret.
"Well, well, well isn't this a surprise." Damon smirked.
"Oh hey, is that Tyler? I'm going to go say hi." Caroline excused herself and left Elena with Damon.
"The blond looks suites you, I really wasn't expecting it but you look just as hot as a blond." Damon did his eye thing and made Elena blush.
"Thank you, I wish I could say the same for you." Elena teased.
"Ouch, that one hurt. But I'd bet you'd look good with that on." Damon nodded to a very inappropriate outfit in the window. Elena blushed and smirked at Damon. Two can play at this game.
"Maybe you'll get to find out for yourself." Elena took a step towards Damon. He seemed shocked but quickly composed himself.
"I'm looking forward to it."
"So am I." Elena softly brushed her lips against his.
What can she say?
New hair, new attitude.
