I also plan to post an angst about Riku meeting Ansem and Maleficent leading to the end of KH2, so if you like Riku, you may be interested in that. Kingdom Hearts Kiddies!

Chapter 1: Riku's Lesson

"He he! This is fun, Sowa!" Riku giggled, helping Sora build a huge sand castle.

"See? I told you this was a good idea!" Sora smiled. "Except, you're still not saying my name right."

Riku, although only seven years old, was a little behind children his age in some ways. Saying words correctly was one. And for reasons unknown to the other children, he still wore a diaper most of the time.

"Sowwy, Sowa," Riku appologized.

"Are you two finished yet!" Kairi asked, her hands on her small hips. "We're supposed to go talk to your mom, Riku!"

"Just a minute, Kaiwi!" Riku told her, placing a small flag on top of the huge castle. "Done!"

"Riku, you have to learn to talk right!" Now repeat after me!" Kairi ordered. "Kai . . .ri."

"Kai . . wi."

"No, no, no!"

"No, no, no!"

Kairi sighed. "Alright, try this one: So . . .ra."

"So . . .wa."

"Oh, forget it, Kairi! He'll never be able to do it like everybody else!" Sora commented. "Let's just go!"

"Wait! Don't tell my mommy I used her garden fwag!" Riku reminded, not wanting to get in trouble.

"Sorry, Riku, but we're not gonna listen to you unless you stop talkin' like a baby!" Kairi told him.

Riku was hurt. He and Wakka were the two oldest children on the island, yet even the the two youngest, Tidus and Selphie, could talk better than him. He tried his best to say things correctly, but was unable to do so. He ran behind Sora and Kairi to his house.

"Sowa! Kaiwi! Wait!" Riku yelled. As he ran after his friends that ignored him, he tripped and landed so that he got a face-full of sand.

"Oh, did you hear a baby calling us, Kairi?" Sora asked her, stopping.

"Sowa!" Riku cried on his knees.

"Yeah, but we don't have time for it right now!" Kairi answered Sora.

"Kaiwi!"

"Well, I guess we should hurry on now . . .," Sora said.

"Wait! So . . .ra!" Riku shouted.

Sora and Kairi spun around in shock.

"So . . .ra. Kai . . . ri."

"Oh, Riku! I'm so proud of you!" Kairi squealed, huggin him.

"Yeah, I thought you'd never learn!" Sora added, hugging him also.

Riku smiled. "But you guys, I have sand on my face and in my shorts!'

"Come on, Riku! Let's hurry to your house!" Sora urged.

"Do you think she'w stiww wet us go have ice cweam, ewen thouw we'we wate?" Riku asked. (translation: "Do you think she'll still let us go have ice cream, even though we're late?")

Sora and Kairi sighed. Riku, once again, was speaking improperly. The three held hands and went to Riku's house anyway.
