A Love That Never Falters

Hunter stood at the grave site, it had been over a year since his lover died. The pain still nagged at his heart when Hunter lay alone in the bed at night.

**********************

"Hunter, baby, come closer. I wont bite." His lover laughed and snaked his arms around Hunter's waist pulling him close.
"but the bed is SO big, and your all the way over there." Hunter scooted to the middle of the bed, moving his lover with him.
"Whatever you say baby" Hunter's lover kissed the back of his head, and settled down into a deep slumber.

**********************

The memory of their first night together still nagged him. When the moved into their house, when they bought furniture together. Their first time going grocery shopping. Or their anniversary, and the gold chain his lover had bought.

**********************

"Happy anniversary baby" he said presenting Hunter with a neatly wrapped box, with a big green bow. Green was Hunter's favorite color.
Hunter tore into the the paper and out came a boy and in the box was a little key on a gold chain..
Hunter looked up slightly confused, until his lover pulled out a chain identical to Hunter's but instead of a key a small lock was there.
"That way you know that you'll always have the key to my heart." His lover smiled cheekily.
"Thank-you baby. I love it." Hunter reached over and kissed his lover.

**********************

Hunter's friends had all told him to move on and forget about his one true love, but he couldn't.. They didn't understand that he had moved on, he just didn't forget or find someone new to love him. Hunter didn't want to forget his lover, the one that had kept him going those hard months. The memories are what kept Hunter going now. Even though they plagued him, the made Hunter remembered the fun they had together, and how through the hard times their love never faltered or was doubted. He remember what his lover looked like and his vices and sweet spots, the way he laughed or always knew the right thing to say.
The memories are what Hunter cherished most about his lover now that he was gone.
Their love still hasn't faltered, and Hunter felt his lover need to know that, so that's why Hunter was there kneeling at his lover's grave, willing himself not to cry, because he had shed tears a long time ago and now was just a time to remember.

Hunter stood several minutes after the thoughts stopped flowing and said his parting words, "Our love hasn't faltered even though your not here with me. I still love you, and I know that wherever you are you still love me." Hunter shifted the dirt off his knees and took one final look at the grave stone, "Bye Steve, I love you."
