Authors note: Right! Sorry about the original prologue. This one is much better I promise. It makes more sense and sets up all three threats for this arc.
Asgard
Trickery God: Loki
Deep in the dungeons of Asgard Loki, God of trickery and mischief, was not happy. Of course he was trapped in the dungeons of Asgard so his unhappiness was entirely justified. He was busy thinking about how unfair his life was. His brother Thor was always better liked by their father than he was. And Thor was always beating him in battle. It just wasn't fair.
I need to find a way out if this accursed cell! He thought.
Granted it wasn't the worst punishment Odin could dole out. In fact Loki had more or less gotten off easy. Instead of being sent to work in some far off mines or being forced to spend time in the fiery pits of muspelheim he was simply forced to rot in a cell with nothing to do. Still, Loki was bored and a bored Loki is not a happy Loki. So Loki schemed and schemed and schemed trying to figure out how to escape the dungeons of Asgard. And then it hit him. He could just do the same thing he always did: manipulate mortals to do what he wanted. But which mortal? It had to be a mortal others considered evil. Those were always prideful and egotistical. Easy to manipulate.
After a few more minutes of scheming Loki decided on which mortal he would manipulate. The one they call Doctor Doom. A greedy evil dictator who wore a metal suit. Loki focused his mind and magic energies and broadcasted a mental suggestion to his chosen mortal.
Doom's Castle, Latveria
Scientific Dictator: Doctor Doom
Doctor Doom was asleep in his lab. He had been working on his latest plot. A plot that would finally make him ruler of the Earth. Or, as he would soon rename it, planet Doom. Unfortunately Doom had gotten tired and fallen asleep. He had yet to invent something that would keep him awake infinitely. In his dreams he was in a forest. He saw a young man with long black hair. Doom sensed the man would lead him to great power so he followed. He soon came upon a device that looked like a large ray gun. There was a single control on it. Doom pushed the button and the ray gun fired. At that moment the dream crumbled and vanished and doom awoke. Doom knew that he had to get his hands on that device. It would be the key to his victory. He would build it and he would triumph. But, as much as he hated to admit it, he would need some help. Doom turned on one of the many screens in his lab and made a few calls…
Deep Space
Deep in space a threat lurked. Coming ever closer to the planet earth. A fleet of some sort. If it were to reach earth there would be devastating. Unless earth's heroes could stop it.
