Hello everyone and welcome to the first installment of 'The Real' series. In this one, we'll be seeing the real Naruto Uzumaki. The one on the shows is just that, a character. Let's find out who he truly is.
The date is Friday, September 12th, 1986. 11-year old Naruto Tokugawa Uzumaki woke up to the sound of alarm clock. He slowly stretched and got out of bed. He walked to the calendar in his bedroom and smiled.
"Today's the day I graduate and find out my teammates and sensei.", he says in a slightly high-pitched British accent (Think of Young Walter's voice from Hellsing Ultimate)
He heard snoring and turned around. He sighed as saw his younger brother, Menma Lao Uzumaki. Despite being two years apart, the two looked almost identical. Same golden yellow hair, same three whisker marks on each of their cheeks and same cerulean blue eyes. The only physical differences are that Naruto is paler than Menma and also wears various different outfits unlike Menma in his bright orange jumpsuit. Not to mention Naruto was six inches taller than Menma, who was 5'2. (Menma is basically Naruto from the shows except normal intelligence and Kurama isn't sealed in him).
He walked up to his snoring brother and slapped him in the chest, waking him in a fright.
"OW! Dammit Naruto, what was that for?", exclaims Menma
"Your snoring was too loud.", Naruto replies with a smirk
Menma growled slightly before getting up and stretching.
"Today's the day I graduate, Menma. So I'll be taking a shower first. Don't worry, I won't be too long.", says Naruto before walking out of the room.
Menma had a small smile. Despite some differences in personality, the two were very close with each other and their little sister, Karin.
After 25 minutes, both Naruto and Menma were both ready. Naruto was wearing a white shirt with black pants and a black trench coat, wearing his blue ninja headband around his forehead. Menma was dressed in his usual orange and blue jumpsuit and green goggles on his forehead. They were greeted by their mother, Kushina Tanya Uzumaki, and their 9-year old sister, Karin Suyi Uzumaki.
Kushina was about an inch taller than Naruto and had long, red hair. She was wearing her favorite white shirt and green apron while cooking breakfast. She was a good mother, making sure all her children were loved, taken care of and acknowledged. However, if one of them got in trouble, well, they'd have to deal with the 'Red-Hot Habenero'.
Karin was the same height as Menma with shoulder-length red hair and glasses. She was wearing a brown jacket with a lace top underneath it. She was smart for her age, having a love for medical ninjutsu and science. Despite getting along with her whole family, she was close to Menma than Naruto.
"Good morning, boys.", says Kushina, "Perfect time. Breakfast is ready. Today, it's french toast with bacon and hashbrowns."
Everyone cheered at that. They loved their mother's cooking.
"Minato, get down here. Breakfast is ready!", yells Kushina
"Coming honey.", calls a voice
Coming down the stairs was Kushina's husband, Minato Takeda Namikaze aka 'The Yellow Flash of Konoha'. He was about two inches taller than Kushina and had spiky golden yellow hair, like his sons. He was wearing the traditional jonin costume and his Yondaime Hokage trench coat. He was the 4th Hokage of Konoha, a melting pot of culture in Japan, on an island called Kami. He was fair yet firm and effective leader who earned much respect from the village.
"Smells good, Kushina.", Minato says as he kisses his wife
While Karin and Menma are grossed out, Naruto is unaffected and laughs at his siblings' reactions.
After a pleasant family breakfast, the children are ready to head to the Konoha Ninja Academy. Minato and Kushina hugged them all goodbye, the hardest with Naruto.
"We're so proud of you, Naruto.", says Minato, "We know you'll make an incredible ninja."
"Thanks father.", says Naruto with a smile as he and his siblings leave
"I love you all so much. Have a great day, Menma and Karin, and have a great last day, Naruto.", says Kushina loudly
"We will.", they all say
On the way to the Academy, Karin and Menma start racing each other. Sighing to himself, Naruto quickly leaves them to their thing and runs off at a stunning speed, arriving in about 4 seconds. Laughing to himself, he heads inside to his class.
When they were old enough, Minato and Kushina realized that their children had inherited their father's speed. Menma and Karin was pretty fast but as fast as Minato. Naruto, however, was on a whole other level. His speed was about 4 times faster than his dad's. It's the reason none of them ever challenge Naruto to a race.
They each have their own set of hobbies and skills. Naruto was a skilled hunter, often hunting outside Konoha's land, a good cook and an expert in various forms of ninjutsu, genjutsu and taijutsu. In other words, he was EXTREMELY intelligent. His weapons included one of his dad's golden three-pronged kunai and a black bow which could shoot both regular and chakra arrows. Menma was nowhere near as smart as his big brother but he was far from stupid. He was good at pranks, ninjutsu and surprisingly, writing. He loved literature and writing however he still enjoyed annoying people with pranks. However, unlike Naruto, who also enjoyed pranking, Menma was far less subtle. Karin was smarter than Menma but not Naruto. She was fascinated with science, medicine and medical ninjutsu. Her other hobbies were cooking and reading. All three of the Uzumaki children were gifted in their own way.
As soon as Naruto made it to his class, he sat down at his usual seat. Next to him was Neji Hanzo Hyuga, of the Hyuga Clan. He was about the same height as Naruto and just as pale. He had pale eyes, long brown hair and was wearing a short-sleeved tan Hyuga sweater with black shorts and a black headband. Upon seeing Naruto, he smiled and fist-bumped him.
"Sup, Naruto. Excited for graduation?", he asked
"Yup. I just hope I get a good squad and a good sensei.", replied Naruto with a hint of dread
Neji felt the same. The two had been close friends for the last 6 years. His father, Hiashi Hyuga (Yes, Hizashi Hyuga is not Neji's Dad in this story. He's his uncle. No questions) was a stern man but also very kind and honorable once you got to know. Unknown to both him and Neji, Naruto had a crush on Hinata Hyuga, Neji's little sister, and vice versa. However, they both knew that they couldn't date until Hinata was of age, which according to the law was 17. So instead, they agreed to wait till then to pursue anything.
"Welcome everyone. Congratulations on graduating.", said the class instructor, "You all have shown great promise and are ready to become ninja of Konoha, the Village Hidden in the Leaves. But before we announce the squads, allowed to announce this year's 'Rookie of The Year'. The winner is Naruto Uzumaki."
Most of class claps and congratulates him but a select few sneak glares at him out of jealousy. Naruto just grins and high-fives Neji.
"As per the usual, the prize is $100 Konoha Dollars. Spend it wisely.", continues the instructor, "Now to announce the squads. Since we have an odd number of graduates, there will be one four-man team."
The instructor named Teams 1 through 8 before arriving at 9.
"Squad 9 will be Neji Hyuga.", states the instructor, "Tenten Higurashi", as he says that a girl with brown hair in two buns and a pink kimono looks up, "Rock Lee", a boy wearing a tan and black shirt looks up, "and Naruto Uzumaki, under the jonin Might Guy."
Naruto grins knowing he's on his friend's team. The instructor announces Team 10 and tells everyone to meet back here in an hour to meet their senseis'. Naruto and Neji get up, planning to go to Ichiraku's Home Cooking for lunch before Naruto has an idea.
"Hey Lee, Tenten.", he calls out and the two in question look at him, "Wanna join us for lunch at Ichiraku's? Since we're a team now, he should get to know each other better."
The two think it over for a moment and nodded.
"Sure. Sounds fun.", says the boy Rock Lee
"Why not? I love Ichiraku's.", agrees the girl Tenten
"Well let's go then.", says Neji eagerly
So, the four left the class and headed out for lunch. The first of many to come.
Chapter 1 is done. The next chapter will have them meet their sensei, Might Guy and take their 'final test' to become ninja. Will they succeed? Find out next time.
Author's Note: Naruto is two years older than the rest of the Rookie 9 putting him around the same age as Team Guy. Many characters in this story are going to OOC, including Naruto, Lee and Guy. I already have this story planned out so I hope you guys enjoy it. Peace and don't forget to review!
