Blaine was Kurt's bestest friend in the whole wide world. They had lived next door to each other for forever, and Kurt was pretty sure they'd even been friends before they were born. They were always over at each other's houses, and someone must have known that would happen, because there was a gate joining their two yards.
Blaine had the coolest tree house in his backyard. Their dads had made it the previous summer, and now it was their secret hideout.
This particular Saturday, they were up there playing Mommies and Daddies. They took turns at being the Mommy, and today it was Kurt's turn. He was making a pretend cake, which he was just putting in the pretend oven.
Blaine was pretending to bottle feed their baby. 'Did you hear what happened at lunchtime yesterday?' he asked as Kurt sat down on the floor opposite him. 'Someone dared Finn Hudson to kiss Quinn.'
'Did he do it?' Kurt asked, eyes round like saucers. Blaine nodded solemnly in reply.
Kurt didn't know why Finn would do that; girls were icky. Didn't he know that they had cooties? Kurt thought for a moment more, before speaking up. 'I dare you to kiss me.'
Blaine watched him carefully, and Kurt could see the hesitance in his face. 'Okay,' he said eventually, placing the doll down next to him, and rolling onto his knees. Kurt, suddenly alarmed, began to back away, bum-shuffling until the wall of the tree house stopped him. Blaine looked confused by this, and Kurt thought he seemed a little sad as well. 'Kurt,' he said in a slow measured tone, 'how am I supposed to kiss you, if you run away from me?'
Kurt worried his lip between his teeth. 'Umm, I dunno, I was just thinking, maybe this is a bad idea.'
Blaine cocked his head to the side, a serious look on his face. 'But you dared me to do it Kurt. That means I have to kiss you.'
Kurt took a shaky breath in. Well, that was definitely true. 'Oh, o-okay.' Slowly, he began to inch back towards Blaine, who had already crept forward slightly. When he came to a stop in front of his friend, Blaine leant in, gently connecting his lips with Kurt's.
His lips were really soft, Kurt thought. And he tasted nice, like the watermelon lollipop he'd been eating earlier. It was only the smallest of pecks, but even after Blaine had pulled away, Kurt could still taste that sticky sweet flavour.
Blaine crouched uncomfortably, rocking back and forth, looking suddenly shy. He chanced a glance at Kurt. 'Do you – do you think the cake will be ready yet?' he asked, eyes darting to the pretend oven in the corner.
So this idea came to me, and I just had to write a quick drabble. Hopefully I'll be updating my current fic (I Think I Got Heartbreak Down) real soon.
Hope you enjoyed!
