A/N: This is my first furuba fic so be gentle. I wrote this for my younger sister's birthday so I hope you enjoy it as much as she did.

Kyou stared at her dumbstruck. His orange eyes widened to the size of saucers as he just stared down at the petite brunette.

"You…I-what?" he stammered, his heart slamming against his ribcage.

Tohru blushed, shifting nervously from foot to foot. "Will you marry me?" It came out high pitched and garbled but the message got through.

Kyou cocked his head to the side. "Are you serious?"

The twenty-year-old's face fell and Kyou felt his heart clench painfully at the sight. It wasn't like he wanted to hurt her or anything. But damn, he hadn't been expecting her to propose to him, not tonight, not ever actually. Even though she had been the one to finally figure out the cure to the Sohma family curse he never thought he'd be the one she'd choose. Always in his mind had it been Yuki who would have stolen his Tohru's heart.

"Yes," she sniffled, clenching her fists at her side. Chocolate colored eyes stared waveringly at him. Kyou's hands itched to just wipe the stray tears that were leaking out of the corner of her eyes. Damn, couldn't he do anything right? "If you don't want to you could just say no."

"Yes," he said quickly, ignoring her last comment.

"Fine then," she said softly, looking like the world was crashing in around her but then she froze. "Did you just say-?"

"Yes," Kyou repeated, offering her a boyish grin as the pain slowly melted from her face leaving nothing but wonder and bewilderment.

"I thought you didn't want to," she whispered.

Kyou couldn't take much more of this. He wrapped his arms around Tohru's waist and pulled her to him. He inhaled deeply, breathing in the scent of rosemary and soap. It made him smile and his stomach flipped over more than once.

"Never," he stated, kissing the top of her hair. "I never didn't want to be with you. I…I love you."

Tohru pulled away tears still trickling down her cheeks but not from sadness. Her face was lit up like their Christmas tree or maybe it was because they were standing next to said tree, but either way, Kyou couldn't resist. He leaned down and tenderly pressed his lips against hers.

They never noticed Yuki standing in the corner with a smug grin holding an old Polaroid camera.
