"You will be going under cover in Paris," Tom Morrow announced from his position in MTAC. "You're identities must be protected, so try and refrain from using your real names."
"Have you decided what name you're going to use?" Jenny asked as they sat on the plane.
"Yup, have you?" Gibbs grunted as he kept eyes on the passengers on the plane.
"No, I don't know what to choose. I want something that is easy to remember," Jenny let out a sigh. "What name did you choose?"
"Jethro."
"Jethro? Seriously?" Jenny looked at Gibbs like he had gone crazy. "I thought the point was to pick names that were not our real name."
"It's not my real name. It's my middle name," Gibbs shrugged. "No one ever calls me by that name. Agents at work call me Gibbs, and only my father calls me by my first name."
"I wish I had a middle name," Jenny mumbled as she turned to look out the window.
"Why not Jen?"
"Excuse me?" Jenny's head snapped back to look at him.
"Jen," Gibbs shrugged. "It's like Jenny but shorter and if you're close to being compromised you could say your name is Jenna or something."
"What about myself?" Gibbs turned to look at their medical professional. "Duck?"
"Duck? Is that the best you can come up with?" Jenny asked.
"It has to be easy, Jen. Mallard is another name for a duck," Gibbs turned back to their friend. "We could call you Ducky."
"This is a terrible idea, Gibbs," Jenny sighed.
"That's not my name, Jen."
"Sorry, this is a terrible idea, Jethro," Jenny bit out.
Gibbs held up a finger. "Rule number 6, never say you're sorry."
A/N: I've always wondered why Jenny calls Gibbs Jethro. I assumed it had something to do with being intimate in Paris but then again, Jethro is his middle name. For the sake of this story, Gibbs used Jethro as his undercover name thus being the name Jenny was used to calling him. Once a habit is formed it's hard to break :)
