Bittersweet

Severus Snape woke in his dungeon chamber at Hogwarts. The air was cold, the night silent. There was a slight movement next to him. There led Lily Potter. She wore robes of pure white, cascading ghostly around her, her vibrant red hair flowed, her lips were graced with a slight smile, and her green eyes gazed into his.

"Lily" he gasped as though it was his last breath.

Her smile brightened.

"What..." but she place a soft finger on his lips to quite him.

"Look after him, Sev" The sound of her voice made him shiver. How he had yearned to hear his name from her lips. She removed her finger.

"I love you" Always. His voice was racked with raw emotion.

She smiles again. "I know"

Then she bent down and captured his lips in a bittersweet kiss. A Bittersweet goodbye.

"I'm sorry" He sobbed. But Lily was gone.

Then a large silvery bird flew into the room. Dumbledore's Patronus.

I'm sorry to wake you, Severus. Come to my office immediately.

The he knew. Lily was dead. It was his fault.

Mudblood. The word echoed in his mind and he vowed never to use it again.
