A Good Day to die

The firsthand account of the Grim Wars

July 8th

Year: unknown

Time: I don't know or care

The world is broken, well more like shattered beyond repair. Ever since the beacon incident years ago, the once semi quiet life we civilians knew went up in smoke. For the most part our everyday lives now consist of scrounging for food, tending the wounded or in my case forging every weapon conceivable for our brave men and women fighting out in the far territory. As jobs go mine has to be the toughest, I mean standing next to a forge for close 24 hours can really take a toll but, I will admit the amount of muscle I am gaining means the ladies can't stop staring at me. Or at least they would if the injured didn't keep coming in from the front. These healing women are absolute miracle workers. I've seen a man nearly torn in half bound and stitched back together and sent right back to the front with a piece of vale tank armor for a chest. He was probably so high on pain meds that he didn't realize that his entire chest was shiny. He came back about 1 hour later on a stretcher damn fool must have thought he was impervious when he found that sword blows and bullets bounced off his chest. I will admit though I should have made a helmet to go along with the chest piece but I was rushed for time. Speaking of time, looks like the forge is getting cold, I'd better get more fire shards or else its back to cold forging and after the incident with Herold … best not think of that now. Just as I thought nearly dead and, BLAST, I'm out of shards, looks like I'm going to go old school on this. Normally I would have to restart it using regular speaks but I have found a way to get it going ten times faster as well as increase its heat output. All I do really is grab my daily allowance of alcohol and mix it with my weapons oil. Within 10 seconds of dumping the concoction the forge roars to life the heat literally starting to melt the ore over it. I sometimes wonder what these guys would do without me. Oh shit the General Carthas is coming this way. hopefully it's a good reason this time.
