Ode to the Kommandant

(a diversion)

To the melody of Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition
as sung by Kinch and the Heroes on the record
*Hogan's Heroes Sing the Best of WWII*.

Now adapted to include Sgt. Moffitt's most excellent suggestion!
Thank you for the inspiration!

.

Kommandant, the hero of his nation
Tough but fair, he shows no trepidation
Kommandant, your glare whene'er you face us
Strikes our hearts with fear

Kommandant, a FINK is what we call him
Kommandant, his cunning's truly galling
Kommandant, for us the war is o'er
And so we'll all stay here!

We've lost our will to escape
There's never an escape here
For our Kommandant's cowed us to stay with him here!

Yes, our Kommandant, so noble and so stout
Kommandant, commander to the umlaut
Kommandant, our super favourite Kraut
Who makes us all stay here

And when the brass says he blew it
Oh yes, we've seen them do it
Then he crows, "No one's ever escaped from Thirteen!"

For our Kommandant is the hero of his nation
Tough but fair, he shows no trepidation
And to show our honest admiration
Here's a true Bronx cheer:

PFLRRRRT!
