The Girl in the Big Black Frames
Written by Bra1n1ac to express his deep feelings for a certain cartoon character... Okay! You dragged it out of me! The character in question is Scooby-Doo's Velma.
Rated PG because of talk of kissing
It starts with...
That first look you gave me when I was a lad,
And even at six, you made me go mad,
I saw you on the screen on Saturday morn,
And from that moment, it was like I'd been reborn!
Others said you weren't real, but I knew that you were,
But I knew I could never be worthy of her,
Cause I was a kid that got called lots of names,
And you were the girl in the big black frames.
All through my life, you were always there,
And as I watched, couldn't help but care.
You'd guide me to the truth, that life was all good,
Through that look in your eyes when "the game was afoot."
You were always so smart, brave, loyal and true.
Didn't know it back then, but I was in love with you.
Well, the years passed, but they passed you by,
While I kept trying to be a nice guy.
Study, learn and work out, all these things I'd do,
Trying to make myself worthy of you,
But that goal kept getting further every time I watched your show.
Sometimes it seemed like there was nothing that you didn't know.
My mind strained to keep up, but for you it was games,
I was falling for you and your big black frames.
Well, I grew older, but you stayed the same.
Forever beautiful, smart and humble in spite of your fame.
Forever young, immortal, unstoppable,
Almost like a goddess, though it seemed impossible.
As a teen, I wished to kiss you, hold you in my hands,
But I knew that you deserved to have a better man.
Imagine my rage when the guys picked their dames,
And left you alone with your big black frames.
I stood there in shock. Could it be that I might
Be the sole one who worshipped you like Aphrodite?
Was I alone in seeing your beauty?
I would place you above my friends, family and duty!
If I was the only one with such a crush,
Then I could pursue you through rain, snow and slush.
So I decided to earn you by dawn.
I studied and studied... ...and then you were gone.
I just couldn't stand it! I'd tried to succeed!
How could you leave in my hour of need?
The Saturdays came, but you were not there,
And I lost all my motive. I just ceased to care.
The years just crept by, and all I felt was dark.
The horrid un-light of your absence, but hark!
'98 came, and then lo and behold!
A gift from the heavens, like finest of gold!
A movie by you, and fulfilling all claims,
For you were still alive! Still in big black frames!
And each year since then, you've released a new movie,
But that isn't enough now. It just isn't groovy.
For I have to find you. You must be mine!
We will be together! It's destined design!
It took years, but at last I am worthy of you,
I will find you just as you'd find a clue.
But I can't help but worry that I and my aims,
Will die before you and your big black frames.
