AN: just an idea I had in the Shandy facebook group that I wanted to flesh out a little about Shandy and their matching.
This case was taking a toll on her. He could see it in her eyes and could detect in the slight hunch of her shoulders. So slight that no one else would even notice, but he knew her and he always saw when something weighing her down. On top of it was this mess with Rusty and if things weren't finally becoming more relaxed with the kid, he'd go give him a swift kick in the ass for good measure. Provenza seemed to be taking care of that though, and for now he was glad he could not be the bad guy.
It was late and he more than anything wanted to spend some time with her, but he and she both knew it was more prudent that they and the rest of the team get some sleep so they could come back at this fresh in the morning. He waited for her and to be ready to leave. The rest of the team had emptied out of the murder room a while ago, so when she came out from her office her took her briefcase in one hand and then interlaced her fingers with the other and they walked to the elevators silently. They rode down and walked to the parking lot in companionable quiet. When they arrived at her car she reached out for the door handle and he stopped. Spinning her back around he looked in her eyes, trying to convey everything he felt, but knew they didn't have time to say or explore at this moment. Her hand reached up and tugged his cream colored tie, gently pulling him down to give him a tender peck on the lips. Simple, but with promise for much more when there was time.
He reached behind her and opened the door. Sharon took her briefcase from him and laid it across in the passenger seat. As she started to get herself into the car he pulled her back flush against him with one arm around he waist, and got one last whiff of her hair, nuzzled her ear and whispered softly, almost silently, "Pink." He could feel her smile against his cheek, and released her to get in the car and make her way home.
