Author's Note: Man, it has been way too long since I have written one of these. But I hope this finds everyone well.

You are probably wondering why there is an update for a story that clearly says that it is complete. And you're right...this story has already reached it's conclusion. However, I am trying to get back into writing on the side, and needed the practice. So I have decided to go through a couple of stories and thoroughly read through them and edit them. Some of them I plan to actually rewrite, like this one. I have grown over the five-six years that I have finished this story and recently re-read the entire thing. And let me tell you, while I love the direction I went with while writing it, I am not 100% okay with it. I'm more at 90% and feel that the rewrite is necessary. I noticed grammar mistakes and typos that made me go "I allowed myself to post this?" But make no mistake...the events that occurred within the story will still happen. I just want it to make more sense. One of the big changes for this story is when it happened (2016 vs. 2013, when the story was initially published).

"But Xanthe, this was just a Writer's Block story. It shouldn't matter."

That's the point I'm trying to make with this one, and why I am starting my rewriting journey with this story. It started out as just a story written to get over Writer's Block. But the more people read and commented on it, saying that they loved it and that it made their day, or giving input on what pranks my character pulled on Beckett, the more it became it's own story, it's own universe. It matters to me. I enjoyed the hell out of writing it, and was super excited that it got the attention that it did. While I am not expecting it to get the same attention that it did six years ago, I want to give this story the attention and love that it truly deserves.

I want to thank all of the readers who left their ideas for pranks in the Reviews section of each chapter, and all of those who left comments in general. Without your kind words and input, this story would not have been possible. Hopefully we'll be able to grab the attention of more readers, and hopefully this reboot (so to speak) will bring you just as many smiles as it did the first go around.

Without further ado, please enjoy!

Chapter One

~The Proposal~

~February 1, 2016~

Absolute silence. That's what filled the apartment at 1:00 in the morning on a Monday, apart from my fingers tapping on the keys of my laptop's keyboard. I was struggling to write a chapter for one of my stories, constantly backspacing and then retyping repeatedly. I continued to struggle like that until I finally glanced at my laptop's clock. It read 1:30 am.

"Shit," I said to no one in particular. "I better call it quits."

I saved what I did have done and then shut my laptop off. I quickly changed into my pajama shorts, leaving my favorite Linkin Park shirt on, and climbed into bed. I lay my head on one of my many pillows, trying to get comfortable so that I could at least get a couple of hours of sleep. However, I knew better. Mr. Sandman would not be visiting me anytime soon. At this point in my life, I hardly slept anyway.

Damn it, I thought. For once, I'd like to sleep and not be tired at work.

I grabbed my phone and started playing Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, hoping that maybe that would help me wind down and doze off. As I continued to battle insomnia, I heard a crashing coming from the kitchen.

I shot straight up. "What the hell?"

I threw the covers off me and got out of bed quickly. Not taking any chances, I grabbed my Nerf Long Sword and carefully opened my bedroom door.

Did Saber knock something down? I wondered, remembering that my roommates' cat wanders around sometimes at night.

I carefully tip-toed out of my room, foam sword at the ready. I walked into the living room/dining room area, hoping that I would run into one of my roommates or Saber. Upon arriving in our kitchen, I heard whispering.

"Is it in there, Mr. Gibbs?" a familiar voice murmured.

"I'm lookin', Cap'n," came the reply.

"Well, hurry it up, man. We've probably alerted everyone with your clumsiness."

"Yer the one who wanted the rum in the first place, Jack," Mr. Gibbs whisper-yelled.

"How else do you suppose we convince her to help, eh? I'm open to suggestions."

I grinned, knowing all too well who was currently arguing in my kitchen. I leaned my makeshift weapon against the kitchen bar and carefully walked over to the light switch to turn it on. When I did, I saw the figures of Jack Sparrow and Joshamee Gibbs, who had his arm halfway in the refrigerator, freeze in place.

"I don't know," I quietly said. "You could always just ask me, Jack." Looking at Gibbs, I gave him a small smile. "Bottle is in the very back, Gibbs."

I walked up to him and grabbed a Dr. Pepper from the door as the first mate of the Black Pearl looked at me and grinned. I looked around the apartment and saw that we were the only ones out and about. Not even my roommates' dog Sammie was barking or whimpering.

How did no one hear any of this? I pondered. Even though I thought it was odd that no one heard anything, I merely shrugged it off. Whatever.

Jack turned to face me. "Xanthe, darlin'. You should be in bed, you know."

"Says the guy who was going to wake me up anyway," I retorted. Before he could say anything more, I added, "Let's talk somewhere else. I don't want to wake any of my roommates."

There were nods from both men, and I led them to my room. Once safely inside, I said, "While I realize that I should be in bed, especially at this hour, you should be aboard the Pearl, sailing the seas. You know, pillaging, plundering and, otherwise, pilfering your measly black guts out."

Jack shrugged. "Trifles."

I took the bottle of Malibu rum Gibbs had in his hand. "So, what is so important that you felt the need to rummage my fridge for rum?" I asked as I began carefully pouring rum and Dr. Pepper into a cup that I conveniently had in my room.

"Nothing gets passed you, does it, love?"

"To the point then. How would you like the opportunity to make a certain someone's life a living hell?"

I hesitated, taking a swig of my rum and Dr. Pepper mixture and putting it on my desk. "I don't know, Jack. I'm not one of those people that likes doing that just for the fun of it."

"What if I knew you would want to make this person's life as such, and took you aboard the Black Pearl anyway, with our destination being Port Royal?"

I narrowed my eyes. He must have noticed my glare because he handed me my cup again. I gently took it from him so as to not spill any on the carpet and took another swig. "I'd say that would technically be kidnapping, especially if it was against my will."

Jack waved his hand at me as if to dismiss my observation. "Technicalities are trifling details that should not be bothered with."

I put my cup down and crossed my arms against my chest. "And who's life would I be potentially ruining?" I speculated venomously.

My sour attitude didn't seem to phase Jack. As he shot me one of his trademark grins, he replied with a mere three words.

"Lord Cutler Beckett."

Lord Cutler Beckett. The sound of the name usually summons vomit from the inner recesses of my mouth. But at the sound of the proposal, the chance to make him pay, how could I say no?

I smiled, knowing that mischief was dancing in my eyes. Looking around my room, I said, "Let me get my things together."

A/N: Thank you for taking the time to read the new, updated chapter. As I said earlier, I will be rewriting each and every chapter so that the story makes more sense, especially for newcomers to the story. I cannot promise how often updates will occur, but I will update when I can.

Please let me know what you think of the changes and the decision to rewrite/edit this story, and my stories in general, by clicking the Review button and leaving a comment. I would love to hear from you and see what you think!

Now I am going to try and be a responsible adult and go do my homework. Make some storyboards...write a four-page paper on how psychology can apply to video games and how they're beneficial...fun stuff! Have a great day everyone!

Stay yourself and stay awesome!
