Miss Hawke
Day 1
Entry 1
Today, I was exploring my new home in Kirkwall, especially the richer subdivision and the poor one (I'll save the gallows for another day). Mother was at home- at least, what currently was home. Uncle's house wasn't exactly the friendliest- talking about the space issue with Uncle, and had told me to make light of the situation as usual and explore the new city, even see if others had any favors I could do for money while we adjusted to our new lifestyle. It's certainly different here. Where there had been peace and order back in Ferelden, this city seems to be the opposite; I don't think I could take two steps outside at night before being robbed of my coins by some buffoon with an oaken club. I can handle them easily, of course, but can Mother? Can Bethany?
Tsk, that isn't the point here. The point I'm making is that this city is uncharacteristically violent and strange. And also, Mother told me I'd be well fit to keep track of my travels and journey in this small book, the one I am writing in now. It's black and about the size of my hand, the cover made of thick leather with a small lock around the side. She told me it'd help keep my mind off the current situation and it'd be "fun to look back on later when everything's alright". I doubt it but her high enthusiasm is duly noted with respect. I'll attempt to entertain her by writing it in daily. Weekly, at least. ..maybe monthly. Her happiness is a priority.
Signing off,
Hawke
