Pinkie Pie hopped happily through Ponyville. Today was Twilight Sparkle's birthday, and Pinkie was the one to plan it. She arrived at Sugarcube Corner, walking in to find Fluttershy there as well. "Hi Fluttershy!" Pinkie Pie bounced over to her. "Oh, hi Pinkie Pie. Isn't it a wonderful day?" Fluttershy asked. Pinkie Pie smiled, "Yep, it is a wonderful day! Anyways, do you know what Twilight Sparkle likes?" Pinkie spotted a cupcake on a table. She ran over to it, and gobbled it up in one swallow. Fluttershy thought about what Twilight would like. "She likes books," she said brightening up. Pinkie Pie laughed. "Who needs books when you can have parties?" Pinkie Pie said, completely forgetting what she said before. Fluttershy stared at her. "But you asked me what Twilight Sparkle likes." she said looking a little sad. The pink pony looked blank for a moment, staring at the wall. Then she came in motion. "Oh! Now I remember. Silly me!" Pinkie Pie laughed. "Bye Fluttershy!" Pinkie left Sugarcube Corner, turning around to wave goodbye to the ponies in the building.
As the pony left the building, something blue whizzed past her. It turned out to be Rainbow Dash, clearing the skies. "Rainbow Dash!" Pinkie Pie called out the the pegasus. Rainbow Dash skidded to a halt. She looked down to see Pinkie Pie hopping around waving at her. "Oh. Hey Pinkie Pie. What're you doing?" Rainbow Dash asked floating to the ground. Pinkie stopped bouncing. "Are you going to Twilight Sparkle's birthday party?" she asked, then continued hopping around. Rainbow Dash gasped, loudly. "Her birthday's today!" she asked, eyes wide. "Yep," Pinkie responded simply. "I didn't get her a present! What should I get her?" Rainbow Dash asked looking around to see if she could find anything that would be good as a gift. Pinkie shrugged. "A book? A magic book?" she suggested. Rainbow Dash smiled. "Yeah! A book. She loves books, right?" Rainbow Dash flew off, saying goodbye to Pinkie Pie first. "Bye!" Pinkie Pie called, and turned around. But when she did, she bumped into Twilight Sparkle.
