He sat on top of the roof, watching her play in a snowball fight with the children. Rather, he watched her win a snowball fight with the children. It had been snowing all night, and four feet of snow was a rare surprise in Southwestern Canada.
He sighed as he stood, rolling his neck. Then he crouched, jumped, and landed right in front of Helen, who jumped back in surprise.
Heinrich turned away from Kate's assault and, seeing Nikola, shouted "Twenty dollars if you can hit Vlad!"
He ducked away from the balls of cold white and shaped some of his own. Helen was the only one able to avoid his attack. She was also the only one to hit him. Heinrich bravely marched across the yard, ignoring the snowballs that were mercilessly pelted at him, and handed Helen a twenty dollar bill. Then he fell onto his face as Nikola, Kate, Biggie and Will hit him with the packed snow.
He stood up and shouted "So not cool guys!" then got back in the game, laughing along with everyone else.
Helen stared at him with a smug expression as Nikola slowly walked up to her. Then she gasped as he shoved a large snowball in her face.
He gave him a joke glare and said "I'll get you for that, Mister Tesla!"
He ran from her, terrified. Her team laughed as their boss chased the vampire across the large lawn. Kate had brought a camera, and she photographed Nikola and Helens faces: Nikola, traumatized, as he fell into a large pile of snow and Helen giving a triumphant smirk.
Then they ran inside as his head emerged from the snow, vamped out. Helen did not, however. She was far too used to that face.
She walked over to him, laughing, and bent down to see if he was alright. What she wasn't expecting was to be yanked down into the snow alongside him.
She kept laughing as she turned to face him.
"Hello Helen. Fancy seeing you here."
She would wonder what made her do this later, but without any regret at all. She leaned over and kissed him square on the mouth. He was surprised, but pleased as he placed his arms around her torso, hugging her close.
"Merry Christmas, Helen." He softly said as he pulled away.
