A/N: Hello and welcome! First of all this is an IMPORTANT note as this chapter is just an introduction and I am actually unsure as to if I should continue this story or not. I have written more for it but If I don't get any responses or anyone saying that they want me to continue then I shall probably just delete it or see whether or not it's worth posting what I have already written. That being said this is my first AATC fic and I hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer that I do not own Alvin and the chipmunks and ya that's it :D

It was strange to think how fast one's life could change. For Brittany her day had started as a pretty decent and normal one, yet here she was staring at the dark ceiling in a hospital room. She sighed thinking back to the events of the seemingly perfect day.

The day had started just like any other. She woke up and got ready for her and her sister's; Jeanette and Eleanor's, weekly outing. The sisters were usually busy with work during the rest of the week and Sundays were the only days that all the sisters had a day off. This particular week they had decided to take a picnic by the magical lake of enchantments.

Brittany honestly wasn't one to believe in such nonsense such as magic, but the lake itself was beautiful and was known for the serenity in which it encompasses. She couldn't possibly turn down the opportunity to go and pose by the lake so that she could post it online for her millions of fans. She was after all, a well-known fashion designer and was idolized across the world for her work.

She sighed staring at her arm solemnly before recalling the rest of the events of that day.

When her sisters arrived at the forest that held the lake they were surprised by the lack of human presence. The place had an eerie feel to it and was practically empty. The small car park was old and looked abandoned which added to the unnerving vibes that Eleanor and Jeanette were getting. Brittany on the other hand was busy adjusting the lighting on her camera so that she could get some really pretty pictures to post on her blog later on in the day.

Oh have those plans changed. It wasn't long before things took a turn for the worst. The girls walked for almost an hour through a narrow stone path blocked by overgrown foliage which now littered the entire path, almost eating away at the eroding stone. When they finally arrived to the lake it seemed like all the effort was worth it.

The place itself seemed so magical and surreal. The crystal clear water glistened from the small rays of sun peeping through the large trees surrounding the lake. It looked almost as if it was just dowsed with a tonne of glitter with the amount of shimmers it projected.

Surrounding the lake just before the trees were an array of bushes and flowers, each seemingly more beautiful than the one before. Colours of purple, blue, pink and yellow adorned the lake as the flowers were in full bloom this season.

The sisters were amazed at the beautiful sight and soon found a nice soft patch of grass beside the lake where they set up their picnic blanket and basket of food. Before any of the two younger sisters could take out some food, Brittany had interjected saying the girls had to take photos for her before she ate so that she wouldn't look bloated in any of the photos.

Rolling her eyes, Eleanor was about to reject her ridiculous idea when her soft spoken sister agreed, taking the camera and setting up the tripod that Brittany had insisted she take with her.

Brittany went and laid down right beside the lake and smiled at the camera while her sister began snapping away. After about five photos, she draped one of her hands into the lake water for a more dramatic photo and that's when it happened.

Brittany yelped feeling a painful sensation pulse throughout her arm. She tried pulling her hand out of the water but something was holding her back. Panicked and frightened her two sisters quickly came by and helped pull her arm out of the water.

They were confused when the arm came out without any hesitation. The two younger sisters looked at each other questioning Brittany and if she was just faking it all until they looked back at their sister and saw her unconscious on the ground with the veins in her right arm glowing a bright, vivid purple.

Jeanette gasped as Eleanor quickly began dialing the emergency line. While the youngest sister was hastily calling on the phone, Jeanette examined Brittany making sure that her heart was still beating and that her sister was still breathing.

She was breathing hard and she peered down at her arm eyes growing alarmed when she saw the small glow pulsing and growing brighter. Her unconscious sisters' arm began somewhat convulsing and she had to hold it down just in case the now subtle movements got any worse.

It took a while before the ambulance came and located the sisters. By the time they had arrived, Brittany's breathing had almost gone back to normal and the purple glow in her right wrists veins dimmed drastically, leaving only a soft, barely noticeable glow.

She had never seen or read about anything like it and sure hoped it wasn't anything serious and that the doctors would be able to help her sister.

When they got to the hospital and Brittany was examined by doctors, no one was able to put a label as to what was happening to their sister. It terrified her younger sisters who grew more worried as the seconds passed by and their sister remained unconscious, occasionally having mini episodes were her arm and upper body would thrash around for barely a second before everything would return back to normal as if it never happened.

It wasn't till another three days that Brittany would finally awake and here she was. Staring at the ceiling of the room, trying to avoid looking at her arm. It was kind of harder to do so in the dark since she could see a faint purple glow coming from that hand, stopping just a little past her wrist.

Occasionally it would be hard to ignore the burden she was given to carry as it would send painful shocks across her whole arm. It didn't happen often but the pain would make her almost shed a tear every time.

She wasn't sure what to do now. Whatever was happening to her arm had no cure and the doctors couldn't seem to figure out what in the world was going on with her arm either. Brittany was beyond confused and very worried. Both her sisters had gone back home earlier as visiting hours were over. She felt bad for her sisters as they now had bags around their eyes showcasing their exhaustion over the past few days.

Heaving another sigh Brittany got out of bed carefully. She was under strict instructions to not leave her room but the exhaustion from being passed out for the past three days was really taking a toll on her body and she needed to go for a walk.

Creeping over to the door Brittany barely left enough room for herself to slip out as she opened it. She wanted to make this as quiet as possible so that she wouldn't get caught or noticed by the receptionist who was looking over the ward.

She was finally able to relax once she entered the elevator and pressed the button for the lowest level. She needed fresh air badly. She felt confined and needed a means of escape. Not just from the elevator but from the hospital in general.

Brittany hated being in hospitals. She had a number of past experiences in hospitals. The first being when she was four years old and was in a fit of coughs. The doctors had said she just had asthma but that never explained the shimmery substance she would cough out when experiencing a particularly strong cough.

As the years went on by Brittany was admitted to the hospital more times than she can count for these episodes of hers. Each time she would come up coughing out a shimmery substance and each time the doctors would say it was probably something she had eaten earlier and that she was just experiencing another asthma attack.

It was strange to say the least. She was never convinced with their explanations but couldn't come up with any of her own. Brittany smiles remembering the first time after her first coughing fit and how Jeanette had excitedly come up to Brittany, convincing her that she was part faerie.

Brittany was now 19 and it has been well over five years since her last episode. She believes she just grew out of it and she was honestly thankful for that. The burning sensation as she felt the substance escape her lungs was what had frightened her the most. Of course no one believed her when she said this though. The doctor had just concluded that she had built up a large amount of fluid in her lungs and that was what was causing her coughing episodes.

Brittany lets out a calm breath once she reaches the gardens of the hospital outside and closes her eyes. The cool air gently whipped past her white hospital gown and messy hair, which was currently pulled up into a messy bun with lots of baby hair sticking out all over the place.

She opens her eyes and looks around while walking into the small maze that the hospital had maintained for their patients to enjoy. It only took her a minute to walk past all the tall, green hedges until she reached the center, which held a lovely white fountain.

Brittany walked over to the beautiful Greek inspired white benches that surrounded the fountain and sat down on one. She looked up at the dark, clear purple sky which was decorated with bright, twinkling stars and a half moon.

She sighs and fiddles with her thumbs as she looks at the fountain and listens to the sounds of the water splashing about in the medium sized fountain. Upon careful inspection she can see that the fountain held a statue of a beautiful woman with a short dress and wings carved from granite. The statue was gazing up at her cupped hands which continuously spewed water into the fountain.

Brittany was pulled out of her trance when she heard a twig snap behind her. She quickly spun her head around but saw nothing. She calmed her beating heart down assuring herself it was just nothing or that it was just a squirrel or something.

She looked back at the fountain and then instantly her gaze went to her right wrist which was glowing a bright purple. The light looked almost as if it was pulsing. Glowing brighter and then slowly a shade softer. She wasn't sure if it was a trick of the light or if it really was glowing.

In all honestly, the sight of her arm itself looked fascinating and looked like something straight out a children's fantasy book. If it hadn't happened to herself and she knew that it was indeed real, she wouldn't have believed it was real.

Brittany however was too fascinated in looking at the luminescent light from her hand to notice something creeping up behind her.

It wasn't until she felt warm breath hit her back and the sound of a low growl till Brittany had noticed that she was no longer alone. She stilled breaking her stare on her hand as she slowly tried to turn around and see whatever or whoever it was behind her.
