The Captain's Poem

A/N:This started as a harry potter poem but somehow ended up as a star trek next generation
whatever will my mind give me next? The part after the poem was placed after some one told me the poem didn't suite TNG. Well now it dose!

As always TNG dose not belong to me nor would you wish it to ^_^

The way we have fallen from grace but

We rise again to face the decay

saw magic's circle in the deadly fight

Binding us and driving out our blood

Cursing the cure and stumbling in the dark

The fire burning us down

Burn the world to the ground

The writing on the wall waiting for the beauty to die

Watch your world crumble around you

Watch as your faith burns with your last breath

Why was there a burning desire?

The conflagration curse that you carried

It stained your fingertips

but you kept coming close to the sun

maybe one day you'll understand the vastness of space

the voids that your mind must fill

For your world is but kindle

But like all things that smolder

A new life awaits in the ashes

a new faith to carry the flag

a world that becomes life

A place where you and I no longer have to fight

I always wondered how Jean-luc thought about the world, it wasn't often that I would ask him but he always responded kindly, but this...this work of words that he'd written shocked me, It seemed a tad dark for him, after all it seemed as if he was talking about the phoenix reborn...the people who got left behind or maybe even something else, who could tell with him even after the years I had spent with him he was a mystery to me. I loved him true but what did I really know about human beings?

"Q, you're over analyzing it."

I looked up into warm brown eyes and wondered when he started to read my mind;

"I don't know what you're talking about."

He chuckled;

"You were staring so intently at my poem that I say your thoughts were wandering."

I was caught and couldn't pretend one darn bit. He may have aged but that only made him better, made him realize things about me that not many others knew or could even guess. He always knew when I was lying to him after all...

"I was curious."

He shook his head and sat next to me;

"You always are."
