After replacing the Elder Wand in Dumbledore's grave, Harry, Ron, and Hermione strolled back to the castle, events of the war still running through their heads. Many deaths of dear ones had occurred: Lupin, Tonks, Fred. It seemed that the hordes of people inquiring about Harry's experience fighting Voldemort had finally decided to give him a rest, or were unable to find him here.

He suddenly remembered that Ron had told him not to snog Ginny last summer. He guessed they would be able to start dating again, but he had promised Ron. As they approached the entrance of the school, Harry halted Ron, motioning for Hermione to keep going when she gave him a questioning look.

"Look, Ron," he began, stuttering slightly. He did not want this to get too hard. Ron had, after all, just lost his brother. "Remember earlier this year you made me promise to stay away from Ginny? Since I broke up with her and ended up snogging her anyways?"

Ron nodded slowly.

"Well, you know why we broke up in the first place? Because I didn't want her to be too close to me, I didn't want her in danger."

Some realization dawned in his best mate's eyes about where this conversation was going.

"So, er...that isn't really valid anymore, is it? Could we do the same thing to that promise?"

A slight smile came to Ron's lips as he said, "Honestly, asking if a promise is valid anymore. Yeah, sure, I won't mind."

Harry, who had been expecting a completely different reaction, grinned and gave Ron a pat on the shoulder. "D'you want to go sleep for a while? I'm all tired out."

Ron shook his head in mock sympathy. "Fans, huh. Keep you from sleeping!"
