The Dancer and the Sap

Hawkins High: 1988

1988 was a pretty tough year for the gang, but I guess not as tough as 1984. They were all in high school and hormones and all that had gotten in the way of everything. When El came back, Mike was the happiest he has ever been in his life. He asked her out a year later when she had already adjusted to life and knew the concept of love and dating.

Max was the newcomer to the group and she moved her from California. She immediately had something for Lucas. After a year and a half of flirting ( which was pretty obvious to the rest of the group), he asked her out and said yes.

Will had came out to everyone at the end of '85. Will was very lucky that everyone was very accepting. Except bullies at school which did bother them but luckily El came back just in time because Troy recognized El and didn't mess with them anytime after that. Will had also found a significant other. When he was fifteen. His name was Cam shirt for Cameron.

Dustin was the only one that wasn't dating someone. Everyone else felt bad for him but he didn't want anyone's pity. Even though he was like the third wheel of the group. Instead, he was the same old Dustin. The Jokester. But what he didn't know was that something... or someone was going to hit him like a train wreak.

It was the second week of 11th grade. With summer just ending and school back in session, nobody was excited. If anything, everyone just wanted to kill themselves. Except El. El was the only one in the group that was in love with learning (besides Mike).

All you would hear throughout the school was "Did you hear about the new girl ? Or "I heard the new girl is from Los Angeles." This was new news to the rest of the group because none of them were really the Social Butterfly. Apparently, she was really hot too but then again that came from multiple teenage boys that were just douche bags, to say the least.

When Dustin heard about this, he was very psyched, but then he realized that she will probably be popular by the begging of the year. The new girl would probably be out of his league, anyway. Dustin never told any of friends that he always felt lonely because he was just pure embarrassed. He knew his friends would understand but he didn't want to get in the way of the others's relationships with their significant other.

(BTW, Leannie is the new girl. You pronounce her name Lee-aw-ny.)
