Short and not very good. I wrote this really late, but whatever. I just really really wanted to get this out.

Gunnar Jensen was always a hard man to understand, let alone love.

Somehow, though, Alice managed it. She stood a meager 5'8'', a dwarf compared to him, but her personality compensated. She was strong, with hard yet kind eyes, and hands that were gentle until she was punching you.

They met on the street, a random encounter in which Gunnar was immediately smitten and Alice was overwhelmed by the giant standing before her, asking for her number. Eventually she gave in, and they had one lunch together before Alice was completely smitten as well.

Jensen's team just didn't get it. The first time they heard of his girlfriend, they weren't sure if he was lying or not. Barney laughed, Hale choked on his beer, and Toll Road coughed so loudly the bartender thought he was dying; Lee didn't even grace him with a response. Yin Yang was the only one to stay silent, rolling his eyes and sipping his water. Gunnar didn't know why they refused to believe him, and spent the rest of the night trying to convince them.

They met Alice a few weeks later, a thin redhead with bright hazel eyes and dressed in jeans and a thick sweater - the opposite of what they were imagining. She quickly won over Hale and Toll Road with her witty remarks, and only had to exchange a knowing smile with Yin Yang to earn his respect. Lee took some work to convince, but then Alice bet him that he couldn't hit a certain spot on the wall with his knife and ended up discussing the lost art of knife-throwing for the rest of the evening.

Getting Barney to warm up to her was much harder. It was only until their third meeting that he finally realized that she was perfect for his teammate. A group of surly bikers tried to grope her at the bar, and the situation quickly turned violent. But instead of waiting for one of the team to intervene, Alice quickly and cleanly dispatched the drunks with a few well-placed dirty moves, like kicks to the groin or dead-kneeing. She earned the respect of everyone in the bar that night, and Gunnar just sat in his chair, grinning like the Cheshire cat.

At one point, he started using again, and quickly spiraled back into violence. But Alice would stand there, looking up at him with calm eyes, and wait for the right moment to snatch the meth and sprint to hide it in places he'd never look. Three times, she did this, until he finally got the message and tried quitting. He made it, after a month of prodding and guidance from Alice.

After missions, he would come back, sometimes with a broken body, and Alice would shake her head, patch his wounds, and mutter about how he needed another haircut.

No one ever understood how Alice could love a man like Gunnar, not even the man himself. But she did, and that was all that mattered to them.
