Sakura the Dreamer
Summary: Sakura dreams, and dreams, and dreams. She's rooted into dreams instead of rooted to reality. She'd like to be more down to earth but her head is always up in the clouds...
"Sakura!" Naruto, a blonde haired boy shouts, "Are you okay?"
Sakura was frozen stiff. She was unable to move during their first enemy encounter.
"Hn." Sasuke says, as Kakashi dispatches the enemy ninja, using a kunai to slit the throats of the enemy ninja.
"That was quite dangerous," Kakashi says, landing in front of his cute students. "Hm. Perhaps more training is needed."
"You've never trained us!" Naruto shouts indignantly.
Kakashi smiles at Naruto briefly before turning a cold gaze on their client. "Anything you'd like to tell us, Tazuna?"
Sakura finally allows herself to move as she turns her gaze on the drunk bridge builder.
Tazuna steps back, biting his lips, his face and posture awkward. He's about to speak but Sakura speaks first.
"I almost died..." Sakura murmurs. "I could've died..." Her voice was quiet but they all heard.
Naruto looks at her, his blue eyes full of shock. "But you are alive Sakura! Kakashi killed the ninja!"
"I want to go home." Sakura says softly, "I am not ready for a mission of this calibre."
Sasuke looks at her with contempt but says nothing.
Naruto fidgets, mouth opening and closing, unsure of what to say.
Tazuna tries to speak but Kakashi interrupts.
"Alright. We are not that far from Konoha. It's best to go back. Tazuna, I'm sure there are things you are hiding. You can either come with us back to Konoha, or you can leave on your own."
Tazuna knows he will die if he leaves the Konoha ninja. Reluctantly, he says, "I will come with you." He wanted to tell a sob story in hopes of manipulating them to help his case but he realized the timing has passed and now his life is on the line.
"Hello Sakura," the librarian greets her gently as Sakura enters the library filled with large rows of books, endless bookshelves, and scrolls.
"Hello," Sakura responds, despondent.
"What's the matter?" the librarian asks, adjusting her glasses, her perceptive purple eyes fully trained on Sakura.
"I just failed a mission..." Sakura admits, "It was higher ranked than I thought. And I asked to return to Konoha and we did."
"Oh?" The librarian says.
"I feel disappointed in myself," Sakura admits. "I didn't realize before but maybe I am not ready to be a ninja."
The librarian hums.
"I just don't have that many skills except the basic things I learned from the academy," Sakura tells her. "I feel as if I should specialize or simply know already more."
"It sounds like you are finally taking charge." The librarian smiles at her.
Sakura looks up.
"It's okay to start from nothing. That's where we all started," The librarian comforts her. "Just find your own path... and do what makes you happy."
"Thank you..." Sakura says, making a small smile with the curve of her lips.
"You're welcome Sakura." The librarian tells her. Sakura waves as she walks away to one of her favourite sections of the bookshelves.
"I'd like to withdraw this amount please," Sakura tells the bank teller.
"Just a moment," the female bank teller replies from behind the desk. She walks a distance away, enters a few secret codes and buttons that is difficult to make out. She returns with some money. "Is this form enough or would you like it divided?"
"That's good," Sakura says as the bank teller hands it to her. Sakura puts it in her pink wallet and pockets it.
Sakura walks to her destination.
