James and Jessie were walking down the trail one day. It was a beautiful night, the moon was full and the sky was ablaze with different colors. James looked out of the corner of his eye to see Ash and Misty out of the corner of his eye. But he dared not say anything. Misty was looking at him, too.
"We should look for a place to camp, Jess," James said. Jessie agreed and they set up camp under a tree. James didn't sleep, though. He just watched Ash and Misty camp out next to them.
"Go to sleep, knucklehead," Jessie said as she drifted off. She fell asleep with dreams of Pikachu in her head.
James rose slowly and started toward the camp. Misty had gotten up, too, and they both snuck down the trail to a safer location. Misty giggled and said, "Hey, James."
James smiled and laid back, whittling a stick and watching the moon, "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
"Yeah," Misty said. She looked down sadly. She might never be able to tell Ash of the deep friendship she had gathered with James. She couldn't let Ash know or James might lose Jessie's friendship, his job, and most of all, Ash might not trust her. She could never tell him that the reason Pikachu hadn't been captured was because she and James planned and rigged every scheme Team Rocket had ever come up with. But she wanted to.
"Are you OK?" James said as he looked at Misty. He held her hand.
"Nothing, James," she replied, and laid backward.
James crawled up and kissed her, "It'll be OK. Someday we'll both be rich and we won't have to worry about losing anything. And we can be together."
Misty smiled. She didn't believe James, but it made her feel better at least. She looked to see that the moon had set. It seemed time went by fast when she was with James, "We'd better get going."
"Yeah," James replied. It would be hard pretending to be Misty's enemy that morning. He rose and pulled Misty up into an embrace, "I love you," he said.
"I love you too," Misty said.
And they both went back to their camps.
