The Barry family never expected to end up in such a mess. Everything was perfect until the police came banging on their door at two in the morning, taking a father away from his three wonderful children and wife. It all went pear shaped from there.

Backstory

It was the first week after Neil had been sent to prison that the problems kicked in, money problems. Carol had house bills to pay which weren't cheap of course and she also had to provide for her children, Eighteen year old Barry, Seventeen year old Dynasty and Fifteen year old Kacey. Carol knew she could probably save a little money by making Barry pay rent or by kicking him out as he was old enough to look after himself, but she couldn't do that to him. Barry had no money of his own to pay any keep or no job to provide for himself anyway. He just lay about the house all day as he got himself expelled from his high school when he was in year Nine, never bothering to return to education and he had only just got home from a rehab 2 weeks ago as he got himself into a mix up with drugs. He was trying to get a job but he kept getting turned down because he never finished school.

Carol had already started sending Barry to the shops where he returned with food, stolen food, for his family so they hang on to every bit of cash they had already. Carol would never get Dynasty and Kacey involved in the dodgy business unless it was absolutely necessary.

One month later was when the bombshell hit the small family. An official letter from the court came addressed to Carol. When she read it, she panicked. Neil was getting sent down for 7 years for armed robbery. He needed a good bunch of Lawyers if he wanted to keep that sentance or hopefully decrease it but what would obviously cost lots of money, which the Barry's didn't have anymore thanks to Barry.

The eldest Barry child had cracked when he was out. He stole most of the saved money his family had scratched together and spent it on drugs to kick his addiction off again. The police got to him before Carol could. Barry was back in rehab with a set attendance of at least 3 months.

Barry had blown it all. He had hindered his own father's chances of getting some good Lawyers. Carol knew they were going to lose the house in a matter of time and she had to act. She went and gathered up the remaining money that Barry didn't take, the total coming to £200. It wasn't a lot but it would be enough for Carol's plan. She got Kacey and Dynasty packing their belongings while she packed her own and Barry's things.

That night, the 3 Barrys got on a train. Carol was taking them up to Scotland where they could choose a city and live there. The old Liverpool home was up for sale so more money would be able to come to them. They had to start a new life and make sure they kept contol of it as they had no idea if they would get another chance like this.
