NEW YEAR'S DAY, 2019, MORNING
Glasses rattled on the edge of shelves as fireworks went off in the front yard, people yelling and shouting, jostling others around, drinks splashing onto people and the pavement. Drunk men still counted down until new year's day ("negative 5, negative 6, negative 7..."), children ran around with sparklers, women gossiped loudly about Mrs and Mr Next Door, and cats and dogs sang loudly with the fireworks popping and banging. Nobody seemed to notice the 19 year old sitting on a plastic lawn chair in one of the corners near the fence, and that's how she liked it.
Juice in hand, the brunette silently turned a page in her book, oblivious to what was happening around her, looking up only to take in the beauty of the night, blue explosions lighting up the sky, before looking back down at her page, absent-mindedly stroking the edge of the cover.
"Jupiter!" another woman said, walking towards the silent girl, and sitting on a second plastic chair beside her. She passed a glass with a juice refill in it. "Why don't you join in the party? You've ignored every guy who's approached you, you missed out on the countdown, you haven't eaten even a morsel of food, what's going on?"
Jupiter placed down her book on a glass table, looking at the pretty blonde beside her. "Nobody talks to me, I talk to nobody. Simple as that."
"Jupiter, you're pretty, you're funny, why don't you talk to anybody?"
She shrugged. "Erika, why did you invite me here? I know nobody, you know everybody, its just in our blood." She shook her head, long brown hair flying everywhere."You don't know me like I do-"
"Obviously," the blonde interrupted. "Its fine. I'll stop bugging you-" her green contact popping out of her naturally hazel eyes as she nodded vigorously.
"Erika! Someone threw up in the petunias!"
"Gotta go. Bye Jupiter!"
Juniper Winds, known as Jupiter to her friends, sighed, looked around the yard a bit, then opened her book again and reading the final words of the chapter. I know, he thought. I don't get it either.
-On the other side of the universe-
A large purple tentacle reached out and grabbed a woman by her ankle. "Stop!" she yelled. "Now's not the time. Not before a regeneration!"
The very large land-octopus slowly oozed towards her.
The Doctor glared at it, flicked her blonde hair behind her ear, and pointed a tubular device known across galaxies as the Sonic Screwdriver at the purple monster. Quickly reacting, the octopus grabbed the Sonic out of her hand and swallowed it whole, taking pleasure in the look on the Time Lord's face. "You took my Sonic!" she exclaimed. "Nobody eats my Sonic." She kicked the alien in it's face, wrenched her foot out of it's grasp, and ran back to the T.A.R.D.I.S, jumping over flailing tentacles, flung open the door, and jumped inside, quickly punching in random coordinates to get the Doctor out of there as quickly as possible.
"Never going to Mercury again," she muttered, before light spilled out of her, every pore and gap gleaming, blinding white and yellow shining out of her very skin. She seemed to fight against herself for a bit before collapsing on the ground. Within seconds she was up again, looking completely different. She grinned, before sighing. "I didn't get to give myself a speech," she said. She sighed again, the sigh quickly turning into a scream as she was thrown onto the floor for the second time. "T.A.R.D.I.S, what are you doing?" she murmured anxiously.
All of a sudden the box shuddered, before the door flew open and the alien was cast out into the night, 50 miles above land, falling down to the ground at an alarming rate. "Not again."
A/N: Hope you enjoyed chapter one. I tried to put in as much detail as possible, as I will do for my other stories. Please R and R. Thanks:)
