Head On---; --Kairi & Tidus
( I wish you hadn't left me alone that night. )

The headlights flashed and reflected as they hit a bump in the rode, jostling them on the inside of the boxy metal. Her hands tightly gripped the edge of the seat, more afraid of hitting a deer or raccoon that she was of the crashing rain from above. She giggled as he flashed the lights from regular to bright to show her that there were no wild animals in their path. He quickly turned to grin at her before turning back to the wet road.

He barely slowed at all as they turned into her paved driveway, sending them bumping against each other. She giggled and slipped one hand from the seat to his knee. She steadied herself as they came to a stop. She looked at him to see the look in his eyes. He leaned over and pressed a kiss to her lips before unlocking to doors for her. "Do you want me to walk you to the door?" He hated that she didn't like him to when it was raining.

She smiled and shook her head, hand reaching for the door handle. "No, I'll be alright. I promise. Besides, I don't want you to get wet." Her smile made his heart jump.

He nodded and shrugged. "Okay, be careful, alright?"

She stepped out of the car. "Alright." She looked back at him, subconsciously pulling her jacket tighter around her body as she felt the rain against her skin. "Are you sure you'll be okay? You can stay, if you need to. The roads get slippery." She bit her lower lip and looked worriedly from him to the roads and back again.

"I'll be fine. Hurry and get inside before you catch a cold or something."

She nodded, "Call me when you get home." She shut the door. Once she was inside, she stood at the window and watched as he drove away.

She sat with a cup of hot chocolate, a blanket, and her cat. She rocked in the chair slowly, watching the TV but not listening. She looked over towards the telephone and sighed. He wouldn't be home yet and she knew it. She grabbed a book from the table next to her and leaned back some, allowing the cat to stretch out and mew in content. She flipped the book open to where she had the page marked and skimmed the over it, not interested in anything at the moment other than getting her mind off the pounding rain that was going on outside.

Outside, the sound of sirens came and went. She glanced at the TV, but it was weather and not news at the moment. When the news came back on, nothing was said of any car wrecks. She grabbed her cell phone and checked her missed calls and made sure it wasn't on silent mode. No missed calls and the ringer was on.

She closed her book and threw it across the room, missing the desired target table by a few feet. She laughed bitterly at it, choking back a few worried tears. She took a deep breath and settled her nerves. Surely, he still wouldn't be home yet. It was possible, but he was most likely going slower than usual because of the rain. She shook her head and laughed to herself. She turned the TV off and settled into darkness. Surely the phone would wake her up when he called.

She fell asleep, unaware of her cat's worried mew that escaped it's throat when more sirens were heard in the distance.

She woke up to a sunny day with no signs of rain. Her first instinct was to turn on the TV, which she did. Unfortunately, reports of car wrecks from the night before were being shown on the screen. The name of her road caught her attention. She inhaled sharply and looked over to her answering machine.

The call hadn't come.
