A/N: This is a very short drabble of sorts in which Hermione gets her first Weasley jumper. When I say short, I mean REALLY short. I may elaborate more later, but for now it will stay listed as complete.

Hermione never understood why all the Weasley children groaned when they unwrapped their signature Weasley jumpers. Though they could hardly be accused of being the most attractive garment, the love with which Mrs. Weasley made them always gave Hermione the sense of a close, loving family. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't at least a little jealous of Harry and the Weasley kids. To her, having and wearing one of those jumpers was like having some irrefutable bond...a bond that she wished she shared. So that is why, on Christmas day during her last year of Hogwarts, she was sporting the biggest grin and - to her embarrassment - watery eyes.

It wasn't very fetching - over sized and scantly misshapen as it was - with its salmon color and large, dark bronze 'H' ingrained on the front, but she didn't care. She clutched it to her chest before hastily replacing her old one with it. "I absolutely adore it!" she announced to the many smiling faces in the Burrow before jumping up and hugging Mrs. Weasley. Clearly not anticipating such a strong reaction to her gift, Molly Weasley just put her arms around the girl and said "Oh, well I'm glad you like it dear."

Ignoring her bemused boyfriend, she returned to his side as everyone continued about the gift exchanging. In the past few months she had felt slightly isolated from the others. With her decision to finish her last year at Hogwarts while three of her closest friends - including her boyfriend - were off training to be Aurors, she figured her feelings were justified. Not that she didn't appreciate Ginny but after all she had been through with Harry and Ron plus her new relationship with the latter, she was feeling a bit lonely. So needless to say, when Ron invited her to the Burrow for Christmas break, she jumped on the offer.

She found, however, that she felt just a bit awkward being there. Almost as though she were invading. The whole fiasco with Rita Skeeter made her a little less than comfortable with Mrs. Weasley, and the changing dynamic in her relationship with Ron did nothing to quell this. Though she was sure Mrs. Weasley bore her no ill will, she couldn't help but think of how protective she was of Harry. If she was like that with him, how would she be about her own flesh and blood?

"'Mione," she was pulled out of her reverie at the touch of Ron and gave a hum in response as she looked into his blue eyes. "You all right?" he asked softly, following quickly with "You look a bit dazed."

She laughed lightly and wiped her still watery eyes. "I'm fine." She gave him a hug and feather light kiss.

"You know, you don't have to wear that jumper." He was still grinning from her small gesture of affection as he grabbed her hand.

"Oh Ron, I want to wear it!" He just had a chance to utter a surprised 'really?' before she continued "I'm thrilled to have it. Now it's like I'm a part of the family...not just a friend of Harry and Ron." It was his turn to give a kiss.

"How could you ever doubt your place in our family?" He said hesitantly, as though afraid it wouldn't be the right thing to say. She gave his hand a squeeze before she tore into her other gifts.

Silly as it may seem, the jumper represented a bond - one that she finally shared with everyone. It was and initiation of sorts, and this thought caused Hermione to smile even broader than before, muttering just loud enough for Ron to hear: "It's like I've finally become a Weasley."

A/N: I feel it's out of character, but I'm fairly new to the Harry Potter fandom, and I really wanted to see something in which she gets a Weasley jumper. Well, reviews would be appreciated :]
