A/N: This is my first attempt at writing a fanfic. I love RWBY and the sister's interactions. Hope you all enjoy!

Finally it was here. The day they had worked so hard to reach. After four years of dedicated training, team RWBY stood with their friends before Ozpin and an array of hunters, ready to graduate. The ceremony was short and sweet, allowing them plenty of time to congratulate each other before they dispersed.

Now Yang sat slumped against a tree in Beacon's courtyard. Today should be one of the happiest days of her life, but there was one thing that haunted her. Summer never got to see them graduate and become huntresses like her.

The last time she had seen her stepmother she had promised to take care of her sister. Just like every time before that, when Summer left on a mission, she promised to take care of Ruby. What she hadn't known was that would be the last time she would ever make that promise.

Summer disappeared on that last mission, and their father shut down completely. Even though she was only a few years older than Ruby she fulfilled her promise to take care of the girl. Through their life Yang watched out for her, cared for her, and raised her to be the best person she could no matter the sacrifice to herself. It was one of the happiest moments she had ever had when she learned that Ruby would be attending Beacon with her, that they would both walk in the footsteps of their mother and become huntresses.

Now Yang wished she had the chance to see Summer again. To be able to drag Ruby over to her and show her she had kept her promise. To show her that she had taken care of the girl and helped raise her to be one of the best huntresses Remnant had ever seen. To make her proud.

Lost in thought she didn't notice someone approaching her until her vision was filled with red. Looking up, she instantly recognized who it was. She should have known her sister would eventually track her down.

"Heya, Yang." Ruby looked confused. "What're you doing all the way out here? Come celebrate with us."

Yang gave a half-hearted smile in response to Ruby's beaming grin.

"Sorry sis. I'm don't really feel like being around others right now." She grumbled back.

"What's wrong? You should be happy today! We're finally huntresses!"

"I know. It's just after all this time, I wish I…" Yang stumbled over her words, holding back her tears. "I wish I could show…"

Ruby sat down next to her and wrapped her in a hug. Yang assumed that her sister had picked up on what she was trying to say. Most people underestimated their team's leader. Between her youth and child-like naivety, many assumed she was less intelligent than she actually was. But the girl was remarkably perceptive.

"Yang." She started softly. "Don't beat yourself up over this. You kept your promise."

Yang tried to smile at her, but couldn't quite manage. After a brief moment Ruby continued.

"You raised me and taught me everything I know. All those injuries you made better, all the fights you fought for me because I wasn't strong enough, every bedtime story you read to me that inspired me to be a huntress. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for you. You're like a best friend, big sister, hero, and mother all rolled into one."

Unable to hold back anymore, she burst into tears at Ruby's words.

"All I want to do is make you proud." Ruby finished.

Yang held onto Ruby until her tears ran out. When she finally stopped, Ruby jumped to her feet, flashed her a brilliant smile, and offered a hand. Yang wiped her eyes and let her sister help her up.

"C'mon!" Ruby exclaimed. "Let's go find Blake and Weiss!"

Filled with pride she smiled as she watched her little sister speed away in a swirl of rose petals. Today was the happiest day of her life.
