Rin shuffled on the ground of the alley uneasy. She really couldn't sleep that night. Turned to the side, she looked at Yugo snooring soundly next to her. Carefully, she slipped away from his shoulder, and tiptoed towards the street.
«Restless night?»
Rin jumped slightly at the sudden voice, and turned around to see Yugo, perfectly awake, staring at her. «Oh my god, Yugo,» she chided him quietly, «Don't do that!» Yugo sighed. «Sorry. But I thought you knew I don't want you to walk alone.» he said, wiping his riding suit.
«Jeez, I just tell you once that I feel watched, and you keep guarding me every minute just like I was a princess.» she complained. «Yes, got a problem with that?» he replied, fitting his boots. «My princess?» he added with a slight smirk.
The girl rolled her eyes. «I'm just going out to take some fresh air.» «And I'm just making sure nothing happens to you.» he said, going face-to-face with her. «Fine!» she told him slightly annoyed, but amused by his overprotective tendencies.
They then silently walked for a bit, until Rin's bracelt started glowing with a faint green light. «What the?» murmured Yugo bringing it up. Rin raised her arm to look at her item. «I feel a strange sensation... a have a bad feeling...» She looked up, and gasped. Worried, Yugo followed her sight.
Slowly, an hooded someone was walking towards them. Rin whimpered slightly. «Oi punk, what do you want?» asked Yugo.
A smug smile shined from underneath the hood, as the figure raised his left arm and armed a Duel Disk. Strangely, the blade was sword-shaped. «I have never seen a Duel Disk shaped like that...» murmured Rin. The figure drew a card, and smile ever more widely when the card came in his view. «Magic Card, "Shunkan Yūgō" ("Instantaneous Fusion")...»
«Dis he just said your name?» wondered the green-haired girl. «What? No! He said "Yuugou", not "Yuugo"!» argued the blue-and-blond haired boy.
«...hatsudō!» continued the boy unfazed. Suddenly, a flash of light occurred, followed by a bright green and orange vortex forming. «I really don't like this! Rin, run!» yelled Yugo. Rin nodded, before dashing inside the maze of alleys.
Then, Yugo armed his own Duel Disk. «If you're searching for a fight, then I'll gladly take you on!» The boy laughed briefly. «Sorry, but that's not the case. I need your little frind, not you.» with those words, he stepped back into the vortex and disappeared, before it closed.
«Shit!» cursed Yugo as he hurried to his D-Wheel. After turning it on, he moved in the direction Rin went. «Don't worry Rin, I'll definitively protect you!»

Yugo was sitting with his legs tucked on his chest and his arms wrapped around them. His head was pressed against his knees with a sad expression, a single tear trickling out.
He was just like her in that night. Incapable of falling asleep.
«I failed. And you were kidnapped by another Dimension's version of me.» he whimpered. «It's all my fault... I miss you Rin.» He let out a stiffled yell against his legs.
Next to him, Yuzu was laying on the ground. She was apparently sleeping, but in reality she was listening to his rumblings full of somberness. She felt so sorry for the poor boy, he missed Rin just as much she missed Yuya.
«That Yuzu girl was right, I love you... and I realized only now that I lost you...»
She swore herself to absolutely help him find her.
