Welcome to Wonderland

Kurai opened her eyes. She blinked once or
twice, and then sat up. Looking around she saw that
she was in some sort of meadow, or grass field.
Flicking her gaze to one side, she could see a small,
furry black kitten trying to catch a butterfly.
Smiling, she called to it.

"Voice! Here Voice! ? C'mere kitty." The kitten was
moving farther and farther away, so Kurai stood up and
began to follow it. She was just about to wrap her
small, chubby hand around the kitten's midsection when
she saw a flash of white. Turning quickly she could
see a rather large rabbit hopping away from her on its
hind-legs.

"Mr. Rabbit! Mr. Rabbit!! Excuse me!!!" The rabbit
didn't even turn its head. In fact, it seemed to be
going even faster…if it was possible. Kurai left the
kitten behind and hurried after it.

"Mr. Rabbit?!" Her small voice seemed to be enveloped
by the air over the field. She watched as the rabbit
disappeared in a hole that Kurai hadn't noticed
before. She approached the hole and knelt down beside
it. It was fairly large and easily accommodated her
small head.

"Hello?" Her voice seemed very small and insignificant
echoing around her head in the pitch-blackness. Her
silky black ringlets fall into her face and she pushes
them away impatiently. Sighing resignedly, she began
to push herself out of the hole. Tugging on her head,
she discovered that it wouldn't free itself. Trying
harder, she only succeeded in pulling her hair and
causing tears to light in her large eyes. She blinked
and re-immersed her head in the hole. Sniffling, she
tried once more to penetrate the darkness surrounding
her. She thought that she saw a brief flicker of white
and her hopes raised, if only slightly. Going further
in, she could see the splotch of stark paleness was
actually there and she smiled a little. She was still
smiling, as the colour grew brighter and more
distinct. As it got closer, Kurai's smile grew broader
and she even giggled a little. When it was almost
within reaching distance, it's features only a little
blurry, she reached for it, her fingers opening and
closing in excitement. The rabbit, for that's what it
was, suddenly lifted it's head until its features were
plain. Kurai was dumbstruck. The slashed face,
stuffing seeping out like pus from a horrible wound
all over it's face, the razor sharp teeth that were
revealed as its fake lips pulled back in a sadistic
grin, and the fact that only one eye was sewn in, the
other dangling from it's head to reveal a very
realistic looking socket, complete with the thick,
bloody liquid that Kurai could smell as it came closer
and closer. She gagged. Then, in control of herself
somewhat, she began to shriek. The sound vibrated
around the demon and child and seemed to make the
satanic bunny happy, for it began to laugh. A deep
rasping sound that came not from its mouth, but from
the very air around them. She was frantic. She cried
and screamed and tried to pull herself out of the
hole. She yanked and pushed and beat on the ground
until her hands were surely bleeding. She could feel
the packed earth ripping at her fingernails as her
hands scrambled for purchase. It seemed as though all
possible handholds were purposely moving away from her
hands so that she could not escape. The rabbit leaned
into her until she could feel it's putrid breath on
her skin, seeping into her pores like so many maggots
or other class of vile creature. Kurai felt the bile
rising in her throat and she choked it back. When the
vile apparition opened its mouth once more Kurai knew
without a doubt that she was dying.

"Welcome to wonderland," were the grating words she
heard as one dirty, matted paw embedded itself in her
thick, black curls, the long sharp nails digging into
her scalp, and dragged her into its lair. Into the
darkness. And she was gone.
