Prologue
"Far away, in a little solar system, there is a planet known as 'Earth'. In the morning when the single sun rises over the fields where the strawberries grow, a soft humming comes from the rich soil, and the morning dew looks like drops of stardust on the plants. All around is nature, and the smell of new life just beginning. As the day grows, the animals and people begin coming out. The noise grows louder to a babble all around, and the people stop to speak to you, and the animals hop along.
"At noon, most are back inside, eating the food. And what food! Cheeses, meats, carrots, potatoes, apples, bananas… The foods on Earth are incredible. After the midday meal, they are all back outside, working again to get the food they eat.
"Then, just before the sun sets, they head inside once again, to sleep or play, and the world cools as the pink light from the sun fades away beyond the peaks of the mountains. Then the moon rises, and the stars, brighter than anything. Whole constellations are visible, and far off galaxies are seen in clouds of shimmering beauty and light.
"The customs on Earth are also beautiful. There is one called marriage, where two people who love each other more than anything speak vows to stay together for their whole lives, and love each other "til death do us part." Another is Christmas, where they celebrate all the light in the world, and how some child was born many years ago who later helped spread the message of peace. Some of the people call him the son of a God, but that belief had mostly died out.
"The people were amazing. They built gorgeous machines and buildings, some stretching up into the clouds, machines that flew across the sea and sky, machines that allowed them to talk to people on the other side of the world… They wrote songs and poems that would tug at your heart and bring tears into your eyes, stories that would remain with you forever…
"But that all changed, when the Doctor came."
