099. Down
Disclaimer: Firefly, while beautiful and exciting and wonderfully Lucas-free, is not mine.
Author's note: I have a fascination with crazy narrators. Only this time my narrator started out crazy, so it's really okay. KnightedRogue is going to kill me for jumping genres again, but at least she knows this one. Part of my modified 100 fic challenge. Style is deliberated opposite from "Down," which is related to this fic in no other way, shape or form.
Down, down, down the rabbit hole.
The girl was frightened, most all the time.
But the girl also found that fear took time to catch up.
The girl could fall faster than fear.
Hitting water wasn't fun.
The fear liked water, swam through it like an eel.
Wrapped around the girl.
Down, down, down.
Water was enemy.
Space was like water.
No up, no down, just empty all around.
Her voice got lost out there, but the other Voices echoed even in the black.
The girl couldn't watch her back to see the Voices sneaking.
Waiting to take her down.
