The Beginning after the End

---

Vash sat in an easy chair in a Gunsmoke home. The window was open, a slight breeze was coming in, and if it wasn't for the everyday drought, it would be a perfect day. A bundle was in his arms. A pink one, at that. A bit of peach stuck out of a small opening at the top. Milly and Meryl walked in.

"We had to come, Vash!" Milly said in her cheerful voice. She rushed over to his chair and started making baby noises at the bundle in his arms. It shifted slightly.

"She's asleep, "Aunt" Milly," He said.

"Oh, this is wonderful! Another baby!"

"Milly, Michael is still a baby!" Meryl said with a sigh.

"I know, but now he can visit HER when he's with his father! Have you and Lisa thought of a name yet?" Milly looked at Vash.

"Maybe 'Lien' is a good name!" A tall, blonde headed girl appeared in the doorway. She wore a blue "Vash-style" coat, except her left arm was normal. She wore a tan bucket-style hat over her roughly braided hair.

"Maybe not, Lien!" Vash yelled. A tall, tan, golden-brown haired man appeared next to Lien, holding her hand. He wore a grey t-shirt and tan shorts, and his sloppy hair was hanging over his eyes.

"You sure it's a girl? Zach seems like a good name," he said.

"Zach, if you weren't my brother in law, I would hit you."

"Ooh, empty threat," the mystic voice of Wolfwood said. He appeared in the doorway with a raven haired woman. She was tall, tan and stunningly beautiful. She looked rather frazzled, and was relying on Wolfwood for support. She wore a green casual dress that went to her ankles, with a white apron over. Her hair was pulled back into a sloppy ponytail. She stumbled over to Vash, arms extended for Vash's bundle. He handed it to her. She leaned against the chair, uncovering the peach thing inside. It was an infant with blonde-brown stubs, her hair, sticking out of her head. She yawned widely, exposing a toothless mouth. The woman gently cradled the half-asleep infant.

"She still needs a name, Lisa," Vash said. Lisa, the woman, looked at the infant and cradled her one last time.

          "Talina Camia Saverem."

"Saverem? Oh yeah, we DO have a last name!" Lien exclaimed.

"Not you! You're Lien Maria Grace now," Zach told her.

          "Oh yeah!"

"I like the name, Lisa," Vash said, kissing her on the forehead. He then whispered to her, "As long as she doesn't ever run into dear Uncle Knives, I'll be okay." Lisa and Talina just giggled.
