Remus felt the cold night's air brush up against his leg as he longed to get home. The street was deserted and the Luna moon smiled down upon him. He stopped and stared up at the moon; his amber eyes caught the light and shone brightly. He hated and loved the moon, detested it's once a moth call to him but loved its glory and clarity.
He tore his eyes away from it and carried on walking, he wrapped his brown, shabby dress robes around himself tighter to try and keep in some warmth. His cheeks went slightly red as the demanded for warmth and his eyes began to water.
He rounded onto his street and found his house, a small little home, with the normal noise of a baby crying from inside. He chuckled quietly to himself as he thought of his wife running around mad trying to calm their one year old son and made his way to the front door. He slotted his key into the lock and entered the busy house. Just then Jenny's warn out face appeared from the kitchen and in her arms was the howling Romulus.
"Hey Jen," Remus greeted, as he took of his shabby shoes.
"Hi Remus," Jenny groaned as the baby began to tug hard on her loose her. She gave a sigh and ambled over to Remus, and planted a soft kiss on his cheek. "I'm so glad your honey"
Romulus giggled as he tugged Jenny's bead necklace, which soon broke and beads went flying in all directions, Remus chuckled slightly at the look of exasperation on his wives face.
"Don't you laugh at me!" Jenny warned, trying to keep the squirming baby still.
"I'm sorry;" Apologised Remus "Here let me hold him."
Remus extracted the baby and held him in his arms. Straight away Romulus stopped crying and began to blow spit bubbles, while giggling. Jenny just stood there in astonishment at the sight.
"How do you do that?" Jenny demanded, slumping into a near by chair.
"I just have a way with children." Remus owned up, while tickling Romulus's tummy with a single finger.
Remus walked through to the lounge, where there was a wooden crib. He lightly placed Romulus down, who yawned and slowly closed his huge amber eyes. Remus suddenly felt a familiar hand of Jenny laid rest on his shoulder.
Remus did not turn around but continued to watch his sleeping son. Romulus had his large amber eyes and messy sandy brown hair but Jenny's smile. Jenny went and fell on the sofa, and heaved a great sigh, while Remus tucked the blankets quietly around his young.
Romulus was already fast asleep and breathing lightly. His arms reached out and grasped a near by teddy bear, and began to suck his thumb lightly.
"You know he really does take after me." Remus sighed.
"How'd you mean?" Jenny called over, her eyes now closed.
"I used to suck my thumb as well." He blushed slightly, "That is when I was a baby."
"Baby?"
"Ok until I was 9…"
"Thought so!"
Remus looked up form his son's crib and stared out the window, where moonlight was flooding in, and the stars seemed to wink at him. Looking at the stars reminded him of his Marauder days with Sirius, Peter and James. When they used to lie at the lake on the Hogwarts ground and stare up into the night's sky. Now those days were over, the days they had promised to make last forever with a single promise. He sighed to himself at the thought of his lost friends.
