A.N: Yup, here I am with yet another project. This one will be multichaptered and is inspired by the animated movie The Swan Princess (1994). As I completely fail at keeping track of one fanfic at a time, updates will be very sporadical and might take a long time to be written and edited - properly adapting this movie to ToV's a huge challenge, I realized, not to mention I have like 3 other WIPs to complete before classes start again.
Here's a teaser prologue for now though, I'm sure those who've watched the movie will recognize it. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own The Swan Princess (1994) or Tales of Vesperia in any way.
Prologue
Once upon a time there was a king named Finath, who ruled a large and mighty kingdom. And yet, he was wistful, for he was growing old and had no child to inherit the throne.
Then, happily, a son of golden hair and azure eyes was born. A prince. His youthful smile was bright and his laughter spirited, and he was given the name Flynn.
Kings and Queens came from all around to offer their gifts to the child. Among them was the widowed Queen Lylian, and her young son Prince Yuri. Silken dark hair and stormy eyes, his character was known to be untamed and sprightly even at such an early age.
It was then that Finath and Lylian happened upon the same idea: Yuri and Flynn would be brought together each summer in hopes that they would befriend each other, and join their kingdoms eternally.
But unknown to all was another plan, that of the evil veteran Alexei, who had remained bitter to the kingdom after an ill-fated, forced retirement. Rumor had it he had sunk in a world of sorcery and black magic. Flynn's birth was of little concern to him, for he was preparing to take Finath's kingdom by means of the forbidden arts.
On the eve of his assault, the king and his men attacked, and Alexei's powers were plunged to darkness. Despite numerous calls for his death, the enchanter was only banished and never to return.
Many feared King Finath was too kind. But in time, the threat was forgotten and all hopes turned to that approaching summer, when Yuri and Flynn would finally meet…
