There was once a rich old witch who was called Lady Cassandra. She prided herself in being pure-blood an never married because she believed anyone with on drop of Muggle blood was unworthy of her love. She often bragged to her friends, "I am the last pure-blooded wixen in the world!"
The only creature that lived with her was her small house-elf, who cleaned her mansion for her. But as she got older, she got lazy. She hired two house-elves to do her laundry and cook for her.
"What a powerful witch I am!" she boasted as she saw her servants do all her work.
Because she was doing less work, Lady Cassandra got fatter, and she was having a difficult time to get dressed or even tie her shoes. She hired three more house-elves to help with her clothes, shoes, and hair every morning.
With every chore she found, Cassandra hired another house-elf to do it for her.
One day, there was a fancy party for all rich wizarding families to attend. Cassandra spent no haste in ordering her house-elves to dress her up in her most expensive robes and jewlery. She brought two house-elves with her to show what wealth and power she had.
"Look at how powerful I am!" Cassandra proclaimed, "The last real witch in existence!"
The other party goers became annoyed quickly with Cassandra. "What does that matter?" yelled out a wizard.
"It means that I am more powerful than any half-blood who claims his- or herself pure blooded."
"Prove it!" said a witch in the crowd.
"Very well," said Cassandra. Her house-elf presented to her a dusty old wand with cobwebs covering the tip. The house-elf rubbed it quickly on his tunic producing small sparks to his embarrassment.
Lady Cassandra snatched the wand and cleared her throat. She aimed her wand at an empty chair nearby.
"Win-win- wingardi- levoy-osa." Nothing happened. She tried again.
"Wing-gardi-num levi-sa." Again, nothing happened.
Cassandra stood there, confused, trying to remember the spell she was supposed to be performing. The crowd began to murmur, and it became clear that in her arrogance and laziness, she forgot how to do magic. She hired so many house-elves to do all her work for her, her mind and wand no longer had the power to cast spells.
