A/N: Was looking through an old disk of stories, and I found this. Thought I'd post it.
Spike watched Buffy slowly, eying her from across the room. The Bronze was crowded, and it was hard to see her through the throng of dancers out on the dance floor. It had been a really long time since Buffy and her friends had frequented the club. What with Buffy being dead and all. They were only playing at putting on a happy charade though. None of them were say what they really felt.
After all, they had just managed to express every emotion and let out every secret in song. Buffy, unable to deal with being alive, Willow in denial about her magic, and Tara's leaving. Xander and Anya were trying to hold the fragile seam of their group together. The D.J. too, it seemed, was also depressed. He was playing nothing but slow melodramatic music. Spike shook his head. He figured now was as good a time as any to approach her.
He made his way over to the table and stood before Buffy. She looked at him, surprised that he was there. If Spike's heart had beating capabilities it would have stopped dead the moment her eyes met his.
"What do you want, Spike?" Buffy asked, her voice soft. Spike didn't reply, but just held out his hand for her to take. Buffy glanced at her friends, and instead of turning him down as they all expected her to do, she rose and put her hand in his. He pulled her towards the dance floor, and hugged her to him.
Open mouthed, her friends watched as Buffy and Spike began slow dancing. Spike was elated. He couldn't believe it. Buffy had chosen him in front of her friends. He pulled her closer and she looked up, startled. He smiled his smile at her, and she tentatively smiled back. It seemed an eternity to Spike that he had waited for a moment like this.
The gang was just in shock at what they were seeing. None of them ever saw this coming. They had no inclination that the relationship between Buffy and Spike was anywhere near this serious. The song came to a close and Buffy tried to pull away. Spike was unwilling to let her go. He held on tight, and spoke for the first time since he'd approached her.
"Dance with me, Slayer?" He asked. Buffy answered him with a kiss.
