Levi looked towards the torrential storm clouds above as the barrage of fierce rain began creating a sea of blood from the remnants of what remained of his comrades, he closed his eyes and heard the running of footsteps all around him, the screams and shouts, and the moaning of the wounded. Once again he felt like everything he had strived to do was washed away with the rain, he fell onto his knees and felt himself sinking into the mud.
Gradually he opened his eyes and watched as the smoking carcases of the titans began evaporating away, the feeling he had in his heart couldn't describe what he felt, only anger, anger at himself, no matter how many he killed he felt he couldn't protect any of his comrades, no matter what he did he couldn't change the outcome. Levi clenched his teeth and tightened the grip on the hilt of his shattered blade, I will not die a dog's death! Levi slowly got back onto his feet and disengaged the broken blade placing the hilt into its holster.
Levi slowly began manoeuvring around the dismembered remnants of what remained of the survey corps who had engaged the titans, he saw there featureless expressions as they gazed out into emptiness, their dreams shattered by the merciless Titans. Suddenly someone continued to call his name, Levi glanced towards two survey corps members giving medical attention to a man who had lost his leg, their faces grim. He approached them compressing his emotions, the man suddenly began to cry "I just hope I had been useful to mankind… Please live on corporal you are the only one who can do it" Levi instantly began feeling his chest tighten and merely muttered a few words "make sure he lives" he then removed himself from the dire scene and slowly walked away no longer could he bear to watch as the man said his last dying words.
As Levi continued to walk mindlessly amongst the wreckage he saw a large group of survey corps gathering around a dismembered body, many of them had bowed heads, while others had tears running down their faces, nearing the scene he noticed that the dismembered body was Commander Rile of the survey corps and kneeling beside the corpse was Erwin. Slowly Erwin rose to his feet and looked at everyone who had gathered "commander Rile of the survey corps died bravely in the line of duty." With that Erwin separated himself from the mourning soldiers.
Erwin gazed out towards the carnage his eyes showed no emotion, merely purpose. Feeling Levi's approach he began to speak "once again we have sacrificed a large number to gain this much ground." Levi looked at Erwin thoughtfully "I guess you're the new commander then." Erwin merely nodded in response, Levi stared towards the sky as rain continued to pour down "Commander Erwin… it has a nice ring to it, I'll trust your decisions Erwin." Erwin looked at Levi his face filled with that of one who would sacrifice everything for humanity "I promise you until the day I die I will free humanity from its cage even if I must become a monster" Levi smirked and slowly closed his eyes feeling that he could truly rely on this man "yeah… I believe you"
