Say Something-
"Say something, I'm giving up on you. I'll be the one, if you want me to."
She couldn't do this anymore. Be this person.
She'd promised herself that the 'girly little Caroline' from her human days was gone.
And pining after him while pretending to be nothing more than his best friend, his 'sober buddy', she couldn't do this anymore.
Not to herself or Stefan.
It wasn't even his fault, he didn't know that whenever they talked it was all she could do to not lose herself in the green of his eyes or the line of jaw, but she shouldn't think this way. Not when he didn't feel the same.
It had been years since they'd left Mystic Falls together, no Elena and no Damon to flaunt their relationship, no anyone else. They'd just left one day.
He'd showed up at her house a month after Liz's death with a suitcase in his hand and said "The roads calling to me, want to join me Care".
She'd taken ten minutes to pack.
"Anywhere I would've followed you, say something, I'm giving up on you."
And the whole time she kept it buried inside, she didn't turn her head when he kissed her cheek, she didn't stare at his body when they lived in Brazil and spent every day on the beach, and she didn't say a thing when he'd flirt with other women.
But now it was time for her to go.
Some of the Mystic Falls gang was in London where they're living and Stefan had gone out for drinks with them, he'd asked her to come but she's claimed to be too tired and wanted to go to bed.
She grabbed her already packed bags and walked out the door, placing an envelope on the doormat.
And with that she left.
"And I will swallow my pride, you're the one that I love, and I'm saying goodbye."
