She sniffed in distain and rose to the challenge, exclaiming "Yeah, well sir, I'm so hungry I could eat a whole cow!"
"Really?" He looked at her speculatively, "we'll just have to see about that. Get ready, it's going to be on!"
Knife and fork at the ready, their napkins tucked under their chins, eyeing each other warily, it was too late for the Inn they were staying at to cook more food, and what they'd ordered would have to do.
As the delicious smell of perfect roast chicken wafted to them as it was placed with a clunk in the middle of the table between them, they both tensed, and sprang into action, they both speared the chicken in opposite tender breast as they attacked and blocked with their carving knives.
