Olympic Break
By: M14Mouse
Summary: Kevin isn't allowed to think about the Olympics…..
Disclaimer: Don't own them.
Kevin really loved his friends.
He really did.
But they didn't need to stop watching the Olympics…just because of him. They shut off the tv and hid the newspapers. They were whisper among themselves about results and what event is next.
Sure, it made him sad and insanely jealous at the same time.
He had no regrets about joining the team. He would do it again.
It didn't stop the bitter ache.
So, he did the best thing to ignore it.
He went to a swim.
It was strange to be back in the water after so much time has passed.
But it felt like coming home.
It gave him a sense of peace with the water pushing and gliding against his body. He felt the familiar push and pull of his muscles. He could hear the familiar pounding of his heart against his chest and familiar rush of air into his lungs. His feet pressed against the wall and pushed himself off.
Instead of his thoughts focusing on the Olympics, he focused on his strokes.
He didn't know how long that he swam.
Once he hit the wall for the final time, he allowed himself to truly breath.
"I don't know much about swimming but you can swim quite well," A familiar voice said.
He removed his goggles and wiped the water from his eyes. He blinked when he looked up at Master Martin. He was sitting on a chair near the pool's edge. He wondered how long he has been there.
"Hello, Master Martin," He said as he pulled himself up from the pool.
"Hello, Kevin."
"Uhh…it is great to see you, Sir. But why are you here?"
"A very loud and impatient group of teammates informed me that I should talk with you. By the spirits, I don't know why."
He grinned slightly at the thought of his teammates bugging the crap out of Master Martin. He picked up his water bottle and took a long drink. He pulled the water bottle away from his mouth.
"It has to do with the Olympics."
"Is that so?"
"Yes."
"And you are having regrets?"
"No…No….I don't have regrets. I never regret my decision."
"But…?"
"It just…that I can imagine myself there. I trained for so long and it felt like….a waste of time. All of that training and to watch it….Okay…I feel bitter and sad…and longing. I let it go years ago. Just watching it."
"It is hard to swallow."
He nodded his head as he stared out into the pool.
"You know that I was recruited for the Wind Ninja School and Pai Zhaq at one time."
"And you choose Pai Zhaq."
"Of course…but it wasn't an easy decision. My brother was against it. We fought bitterly over it until I left. I held onto that bitterness and angry for a very long time until Dai Shi attacked."
"Then what happened?"
"My brother showed up for one. Lu has terrible timing. Two, I came to realization that my life was too short to hold on to such emotions. Three…this is most important…I missed my brother."
He smiled a little at Master Martin's words.
"You don't have to worry about that, Master. It will be fine. I will be fine."
Master Martin snorted.
"Very loud birdies have also informed me that you don't swim as much as you once did. In fact, they reported that this is the first time that you have swum in months."
He groaned softly. Leave it to his teammates to spill everything.
"I am going to kill them."
"Probably not a good idea. You might want to wait until later."
He laughed and Master smiled slightly.
"What I am saying….well…You are a power ranger. But don't give up your love for swimming."
He sighed.
"I think about it."
"Good…oh, one more thing…you might want to talk to Emily."
He tilted his head and frowned at Master Martin.
"Why?"
"Because she has a picture of you in a pair of Spongebob floaties. I didn't know that there were leg float devices as well."
His hand covered his face and groaned.
He was going to kill his teammates.
