Vandal Savage was annoyed. Very annoyed.

Being beaten and stopped by Batman was a setback, perhaps slightly perturbing, but this was Batman. Everyone had to get smacked around by Batman at some point or another. He was ok with that.

What he couldn't handle was being smacked around by a 10 year old kid. Dressed up like the German Flag, laughing his head off while he landed a flying kick on Savage's face before disappearing into a cloud of smoke with the target. Now all his plans were set back weeks and everyone knew about his failed assassination attempt. It set him off, big time. There was no way he'd stand by any longer.

"So, Vandal, why did you call us today?" Ra's Al Ghul asked firmly.

Klarion started whining, "Yeah, get on with it! I'm bored."

"Patience, my friends. I called you because we have a common enemy. Also, I needed to test our new communication system. What do you think?" Vandal Savage smirked at the six screens placed in a half-circle around him, knowing the same arrangement was present in the preferred environment of the each member.

"It is sufficient," the Brain said. The rest of the group nodded.

"Thank you, Brain. As I was saying, the Justice League is interfering with the nature of humanity. By preventing disasters and tragedy they are inhibiting factors we need to evolve. By protecting the weak they cripple us. By disallowing wars and crime they disregard natural selection!"

Again, a chorus of nods.

"To make matters worse, they are now training the next generation to follow their deluded ways! These sidekicks are even worse than their mentors and must be stopped."

At this, angry yells broke out.

"Yes! Those infernal sidekicks. Just a few days ago, a whole squad of mine was decimated by Flash's boy, Flash Kid I believe." Queen Bee somehow managed to elegantly slam her hand on her desk.

Even Brain managed to make his mechanical voice sound angry. "Mine as well. It's all the mini Atlantean's fault. Aquaman was nowhere in sight, but his protege..."

"Yes, we have all agreed that the sidekicks are the real problem here, but what should we do about them?" Ra's al Ghul said.

Lex Luthor cleared his throat suddenly, silencing the group. It was the first sound he'd made the entire video conference, "If I may, I have recently captured Green Arrow's apprentice, Speedy. Currently, I am cloning him to infiltrate the Justice League."

Stunned silence, all eyes on the businessman, who smirked.

After a moment Vandal regained his bearings enough to speak, "Uh, good job Luthor."

"Why thank you."

"I... think we're good here. I'll contact you all soon enough about our future plans." Vandal Savage announced. The virtual portraits blinked out, leaving him alone in the dark again.

AN: Alright! How was that rather boring little one shot? Thank you for reading it. I thought it'd be interesting if the beginnings of the Light centred a little more around our heroes, however unlikely and false that may be. Additionally, this is my first fic and I wanted to try my hand at character portrayal, writing style and formatting. I didn't want to dive straight into the interesting, angsty stuff or the extremely fluffy, so I started with a very general, safe little one shot (hence LIGHT beginnings, that's actually where I got the prompt. Yes, the story was made to fit the title, not the other way around. Yay for double meanings and baby steps)

Soon enough I'll be starting a very long project that hopefully does at least a bit of youthful justice (haha) to the characters. See you soon!

Again, thank you.
