A tattered, brown hat sits on the stool in front of you. Lines upon lines of fellow first years seem to creep forward as one of the professors gets ready to announce who will be sorted first. You involuntarily breath out a sigh of relief when you realize that, no, you will not be the first. The first to be watched, examined, the first to have your mind gone through. The names go by, and soon you realize that you will be next. Your heart pounds in your chest, the blood rushing in your head. You go through the houses once again. Gryffindor; where the brave and chivalrous go. But can you be that brave? Ravenclaw; where you will find the creative intellectuals. But can you really compare with them? Hufflepuff; where the nicest, most loyal, and loving tend to be. But are you really that selfless? Slytherin; where you'll spot the most ambitious of them all. But are you really good enough?
The hat is placed unto your head. You feel it going through your memories, personality, everything. You are utterly exposed. Eyes stare at you curiously from each of the four houses. Finally, after several comments from the hat, and what feels like an eternity, the hat announces something.
Your house.
Your family.
Your home.
You don't believe it.
But you know in your heart that the sorting hat is never wrong. Or, at least, not often. And you smile, because the upper classmen are all cheering and welcoming you into this new and exciting world. And this is your place. You know that you'll be happy. You know that you'll have friends.
Because this is your house, and honestly, you've never felt better.
Mmkay, so this is just something I spit out, a prologue of sorts, for a fanfiction I will be writing. But to do that, I need characters! The form is on my profile, along with some links to a tumblr I will be setting up for this story. But I don't have the tumblr yet, so ignore that last sentence.
I will be accepting up to 12 main characters and 8 reoccurring. I need boys and girls, an equal amount preferably. I'd also prefer to have mostly 5, 6, and 7th years, but all ages are welcome!
So, naturally, these are the rules:
-No Mary or Gary Sues
-Only one character per person will be a main character, though you're welcome to submit as many as you want
-Don't take it personally if you aren't accepted. I know that I do, and I really don't want anyone being sad!
-Recycled characters are okay, but new ones are always preferred, and your character must have at least an original name.
-No carbon-copies of characters in the Harry Potter books.
Oh, and before I forget, I do not own Harry Potter, believe it or not.
