A/N: Implied SPIOLERS for 7x24! DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE SPOILER FREE!!! This is just something I wrote for my friend. She had to write a dialogue story for school and I love writing and she hates it. I figured I might as well post it because it's not doing anything just sitting in my computer. Not my first written fic. My first posted fic though. It helps to have watched most of the previous episodes because it will help better understand the underlying meaning of their conversation. Iceberg theory is about 99.9 percent to .1 percent. Also, I have no beta; I don't even know how I'd go about getting one……R&R please!

Life Ends, Love Doesn't

"I just can't believe it," Grissom stated bluntly.

"Not this again," Catherine replied with a sigh.

"I should have found her in time."

"Gil there's nothing you could have done."

"But maybe there was, and I just didn't see it at the time."

"Like what?"

"I don't know. Another clue maybe."

"The clues were very limited."

"Not the bleach."

"You were busy with other cases."

"But if I hadn't been I could have been trying to stop her," he countered.

"Natalie's responsible for her own actions, not you."

"But it was through me that she discovered Sara."

"Gil she worked here."

"You said it earlier though, that she was making it personal."

"I only meant by mailing the miniatures directly to you."

"She held me responsible for her father's death."

"Again; not your fault."

"But that's why she made it personal; because I made it personal."

"Gil, he committed suicide."

"Exactly. How more personal does it get?"

"How long?"

"What?"

"How long had it been?"

"Two years, three months and fourteen days."

"I was just looking for a ball park."
"Why?"

"Just wondering. You kept such a massive secret from a group of investigators, I just wondered how long we'd been kept in the dark."

"We didn't want it to get out just yet."

"Oh."

"And now it's too late."

"What do you mean?"

"We'll never be able to go public with our relationship,"

"Well we kind of guessed it when I saw your face."

"You'd have made that face too if it had been Warrick."

"Please don't start."

"I just wish it hadn't taken me song long."

"To do what?" she inquired

"Something."

"About?"
"This."

"What would you have done differently?"

"I'm not sure."

"You should have taken my advice."

"Which one?"

"Get your head out of the microscope."

"I miss her, Cath."

"We all do. Everyone really liked her."

"Not like I did."

"I know. It's hard for me to picture the two of you together."

"Why?"

"Don't know, just is."

"Oh. I can't really picture us apart."

"Relationships do that to you," Catherine told him.

"I know that now. I just wish I had taken smarter actions. I wish I had told her how I felt about her sooner than I did."

"You know what they say, everything happens for a reason," Catherine quoted.

Catherine helped Gil up from the ground. He turned back to look at the marker.

"I love you," his words were directed at the ground below him. He took one last look at the grave before turning back to Catherine and walking up the hill.

BTW: I REALLY hope that this is not the finale or like the first episode of season 8...I don't want Sara to die...
