"Holly?"asked Artemis. She looked up from the flower she was examining.
"Yes?"
"Did you ever think...um...well." Artemis didn't exactly know how to say this. He looked out at the clear blue water. They were sitting on a large rock on a beach at night. It was the middle of summer and they were in California.
"Go on,Artemis," she said.
"Did you ever think we could be more than friends?" he asked. She looked down.
"No," she answered. It was a lie and Artemis knew it.
"Look me in my eyes and tell me that," he demanded. Holly looked into his eyes-one blue, one brown- and saw herself. She couldn't lie to herself.
"I can't," she admitted.
"Why not?"
"Because it's a lie." Artemis lifted her chin up with his hand.
"So you did think of us more than friends?" he asked. She nodded slightly. He leaned down and kissed her. She knew it was wrong, but let herself enjoy this moment because she knew it would never happen again.
"Artemis, I can't," she said, pulling away.
"But you just said-"
"Artemis! I know what I said1 But I can't risk losing you as a friend." Artemis looked down at her.
"Holly, I promise, no matter what happens, we will always be friends. We will just forget whatever happened if it doesn't work out. We'll go back to being friends."
"It's not that simp-" Artemis kissed her again.
"Tell me you didn't enjoy that." She knew she was defeated. That's what she got for arguing against the great and mighty Artemis Fowl II.
"I did bu-"
"That's it, then. I don't need anymore of an answer. She sighed. She shouldn't do this. But she didn't objected when he kissed her again.
I LOVE ARTEMIS! I wish I was Holly :( She's so lucky! She gets to kiss Artemis!
